gotta love the new flickr interface

Jose The way I got my photo to show up is to examine the page source, and copy and paste the 1st likely looking line with '.JPG'

Wow.. so many pages in just 2 days.. I dont think I can ever catch up.. I have some news.. My company has asked me to relocate to Princeton, New Jersey by April mid.
That would mean, packing my bags from Miami. The Move initiation is going to keep me very busy.. Anybody from that area here in the forum?

In other news, I also received my 24mm f2.8 AIS and 80-200 f4.5 AI (rectangular rear) yesterday.. I just tested them and they seem to be wonderful. The 24mm was a steal for $40 from ebay.. The photos showed rear element scratches., but upon inspection, those were cleaning marks which did not appear in the photos.
The 80-200 f4.5 was also cheap., scored that for $25 with shipping.. It showed heavy usage and had engravings written USAF., the zoom creep was terrible., but glass looked clean with some dust inside.. Will be a great addition. I was searching and saw Curtis had one too.
Here are the samples..

Okay, I can't figure it out. There's no more BBC code to copy and paste. When I copy the embed code from the new interface, and paste it in here the image doesn't show.

What am I doing wrong?

I never used the BBC code - I just go to All sizes, pick the size I want, then get properties and the image URL (Chrome right click gets you the URL without properties), and use that in this forum. Just make sure it's not htts:// - edit to http if it is.

It now takes an extra step to get to the all sizes. Don't like the new Flickr "experience"

Congrats on the 24 2.8 Ram! I'd like to take a moment to sincerely thank Reagan and Curtis for hooking me up with two lenses on my wish list.... a 24mm f2.8 ais and a 135mm QC (two lenses that rarely come up for sale in Australia at any price). The support I've received on this forum is extraordinary and I'd like to offer any help I can provide forum members from anywhere in the world.... Now, on to a few images from tonight... (trying the new Flickr interface for the first one)...

Ram, that blue high-lit code didn't work for me. I tried several iterations and the link icon in the dialog box you showed.
What did work is to view the page source in Firefox, page down past the endless page mechanizations and look for quoted strings that looked like the old BB code.

I'm still mystified as to why "https" started showing up, and why it blocks the image. Peter, I am grateful that you pointed that out some time ago!

Guess flickr wants us to work for our free terabyte.

I am not sure why I did not work for you., as I was also forced to use the new layout. I am using Google Chrome if that helps.

that is related to the way this forum parses content in the message body. To show an image based on just a URL, the software running on the forum apparently looks at any URL pasted in and expects http in front and jpg in the back. Anything with https is not being interpreted as an image link and becomes plain text. Should be easy to fix for admins, but clearly it has not come to the admin's attention.

If congratulations are in order for your move I'll offer them Ram. You're trading eternal sunshine for seasons but that isn't necessarily bad, though Princeton is between Leighton to the south and Scott to the north and they STILL have snow on the ground... that's not appealing, at least to me.

And well done with the kit building. I believe you've been told that it is "forever." You weren't around when I picked up my copy of the 80-200 f/4.5 AI with the rectangular baffle at the rear. I was blown away by the lens and dropped a great many photos on the thread as I sang its praises. I was especially taken with how the push-pull lens excelled with extension tubes. Here is one of the photos I shared...

Shot wide open with the 36mm Vivitar extension tube.

This lens was the equivalent of the 70-200 f/2.8 in its day with a price that reflected its capabilities. That you bought one so cheap is almost criminal, but then MF doesn't suit everyone and push-pull has lost its cachet. But for those of us who are exploring these marvelous lenses, this is surely one to take for a run. This lens, the 50-135 f/3.5 AI-s and 25-50 f/4 AI-s, are really worth checking out. They all perform beautifully. Well done Ram!

Laura was the person who informed me that images I was having difficulty posting from my Picasa account had the dreaded "s" at the end of http. I have to delete that each time I post a photo on this thread. With the "s" in place only the URL is displayed. When I delete the "s" the photo appears.

Another shot with the 80-200 f/4.5 AI with a 36mm tube.

Scott, I really like your winter-shots, even if those were taken in "spring". The framing is great and the colors exactly reproduce a "rural winter"-feel.

Can't help it, here's a shot from a stubblefield too, this one taken today a few minutes from my home:

Steve I like the Seine and the scenery shots ... the dessert, not so, trying to eat less

Georg the indoor spring is colorful and "simply" well done! The "stubblefield" really catches the subject line!

Buddy there is no excuse for me not knowing Holly is a lady, but then I was never a pixel peeper!!! She photographs well and is a pleasure to see her personality come thru each and every time!

Chuong old snow scape or not I am very happy to look and feel the cold. Good shot!

Philippe, nothing say's "Alsace like the "Maison Zimmer" looks like a terrific spot for a short stay.

SAR, as Joey loaded on my screen I thought there was a remarkable resemblance to the Disneyworld animatronic squirrels. Very glad to find out Joey is not mechanical! Good snap and the expression is everything!

Lester, you caught the face in the log and as the only winner you win a fine unnamed prize. The layers remind me of the Sphinx. Thanks for the comment.

Andy the last photo looks like bowsprits from yesteryear. How cool its the idea of doing that! Good series!

Gregg I am with Reagan on this one ... the desert buildings have great character but an old garage is where I'd want to be with a flashlight and a pillow case. Good post! Where exactly are they

Scott, my daughter lives in the western side Orange county and her view is a lot like yours. It will get warm!! It will get warm!!

Ray I appreciate you kind words. Those rusty shots were shot at Circle B. My 135 2.8 QC did not arrive ... the post office tracking just foolin with me again!!!!

Curtis, the rose is something else. Very calming to see! As to the tech ... I learned that "http(S) indicates the presence of a secure server needing some form of authentication. Without the (S) the sites can communicate with a minimum of or no security.

Ram very nice series and well, the contributions you made to the thread while a Florida resident were superb. As posted to Scott, my daughter lives in western Orange County NY. Route 206 goes from there through Princeton and we were there last May. West and north of Princeton is really country and corporate parks. A lot nicer than south, nearer to Trenton.

Update for the gear heads, the Vette is getting a new torque tube as I write. They are running out of things to replace. I really want to buy that car and the wait is worth it. The dealer gave me a chance to get VIP seats at the ST. Pete Grand Prix, with a "hot lap" but we'll be off to Georgia!! My posts today are inspired by Gregg's garage and Ram's shadow.
