Could not get to the real bells, there was scaffolding around the tower, so the clay ones had to do.

Interesting bokeh! Kind of like the 50/1.8E and the 35/1.4.

I am trying a new strap tomorrow with my D7000. I am shooting a handful of baptism's, so I am going all out (since the light is going to be total garbage, manual flash and will have to use my AF zoom, that isn't going to help either). I hope they will let me on stage. If I can get on the stage, they its the trusty Series E 50/1.8 to the rescue. Seems only right that I would use this lens first...

Not trying to convert you to Catholicism, only to the 5.8cm.

I really like this! Looks like the effect you get with a petzfal lens. All of these need to have the aperture ring cut yes?

I will give you a rest now, just one last one to show what this lens does better than any other I know, make old pictures.

Kevin,
The first reflex nikkors have no screws in the bayonet, the aperture ring is a 'nut' that screws onto the base of the lens, no ai kits were ever made. All 5.8cm are like this, and the aperture ring has to be cut. It is easy to remove, you just undo the little side screw that connects it to the aperture mechanism, then you can unscrew the aperture ring itself, which is not tight as it needs to turn to set the aperture.

Ron What did you use to take the oil off the aperture blades?
Rafael That 5.8cm is an interesting character wide open.
John Looks slippery, I hope there's no ice!
Andy Interesting Australian photos. Did you see any penguins?

Rafael, your 5.8cm sets are great, really like the look.

John, different scenery from the west coast this time

Andy, really enjoying your sets from Queensland!

Here's one with the Ilford 50 finally. I am realizing I have trouble remembering which lens I used on the Nikon FG, so now I am leaving a lens on it until the roll is done

This was with the 50 1.2 AIS. Main entrance to the historic St. Alphonsus church in downtown Baltimore. I tried a bit of further processing to the scanned image, hope I didn't overdo it.

Rafael, lovely take of the clay bells. Nice rich colors and great bokeh.

John, welcome to snowland. Fun use of the 16mm.

Andy, Where are the penguins? Do they roam around freely?

Samy, nice post-process work on the church. For my tastes, maybe a bit more contrast or reduce the exposure a touch. Nice image.

Chuong, what a beautiful trio of non-AI-Nikkor's!

Rafael, the rendering of the 5.8cm-Nikkor is wonderful. Love the "Jesus"- and the last Mission-shot.

Samy, nice symmetrical take on St. Alphonsus. With some luck I can finally set-up a real wet darkroom this year, hope to shoot some Ilford Pan F plus 50 thenů

Scott, really nice framing on your snow-station!

Andy, you left the tropics!

Jay, I was reading your profile: Interested in observational astronomy, electronics and optics. This is the definition of Tucsonian.

Love the San Alfonso's Bricks Samy.

Scott, when does it not snow in Rochester in Winter! nice RR lonely car.

Keep shifting Georg

a lot of lens for $25 ramkumar

Thanks for looking at the 5.8 cm series, here is the last, promise, same spot 15mm and 5.8cm.

Actually, will include a crop, 100% 5.8 cm at f/4. Even at f/4 the focused plane where San Antonio stands is well defined. The rest smoothly fades.

Georg, always love what you do with the 28 PC and the ships!!!

Ram, welcome to the thread, and I think this is a lens that hasn't been seen here before!

Rafael, your 5.8 cm lens works as well as it looks!

Three from inside St. Alphonsus (San Alphonso). All with the 85 1.4 AIS. This church was built in 1845 and there is quite a mix of architecture, art and decay. Wonder what a restoration would take or if its even advisable.
