Looks like you have held on to your bread and butter lenses Ray, we all forgive you

And I recognized the couple from there that prompted me to get copies of those lenses. The TC you want though in cases where the extra reach is needed for those Florida birds?

Ray your berry/snow shots are really amazing. You have a way of nailing the red colors that give me such trouble - very very nice photos!

I admit I was a little surprised that I didn't get any flack over my sales. Of course that is usually where Curtis would chime in.
My kit now consists of the 16mm 3.5, 20mm 3.5, 35mm 1.4, 55mm 1.2, 85mm 1.4, 105mm 2.5, 180mm 2.8 ED, and the 300mm 4.5 And I could not be happier. Plus now I have some money to go to the Camera swap meet with Ken at the end

With those lenses I'd think you have 99% of your photographic Needs covered. I wish my collection of MF Nikkors was as complete.
For my liking I'm still missing a small 20mm (very much like the 20 f3,5 Ai) and something fast longer then the 105 but also not too big in size.

Well for those folks looking to complete their lens collections here's a couple choices from the dawn of Nikon SLR lenses history

http://www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/lenses.html#105

I was describing how tiny the 10.5cm f4 T is, so this is a side by side view against the 10.5 cm f2.5 P, both probably from the 1959 or 1960 production year. The 10.5cm f2.5 P itself is a small lens, so this gives a scale. Both are fun lenses to use with somewhat different characteristics, perhaps having to do with the different shape of the 10.5 f4 T's blades?

85 1.4 AIS, at f/2.8:

BTW, Leighton, the photo of the cat yesterday was with the 10.5 F4 T resting on the counter, and the bottom half of the pic was the reflection on the counter of the top of the stand and the window.

To add to the description of the 10.5 F4 T, its a preset lens, the aperture ring(s) are in the front, like the 28 3.5 PC. One advantage is no need for AI modification. But the disadvantage is metering at smaller apertures is tough with less and less light coming through.

Andy - Nice of you to drop in again, I love the first one. Feels like the monsoon here as well today. Over an inch of rain since last night and still going. What are the critters I see crazing?

Hey Leighton, yeah the rain has been keeping me quiet

The school is in a lovely setting (I'm sure the kids don't appreciate it). In the UK they went to an inner city Victorian school with a paved school yard / playground and no grass.

An inch since last night? not bad ! We can get up to 300mm in a night during a good Wet Season (Monsoon) and of course it's raining AND 25 degrees C which makes it nicer ! especially as it has brought the temps/humidity down from 35 C / 90%.

The critters grazing are Straw Necked Ibis (and my youngest walking to class on the right !). A decent sized bird, lots of them here, sometimes in our road or on the roof, they eat bugs/worms on playing fields, lawns etc. but nowhere near the size of an Emu ! (which are here but in the drier areas inland from here. What you would call the Bush/Savannah/Outback).

Should be back among you soon. Traded for a D7000 with a grip (basically the same setup I had before). I miss this thread and my old glass is tough to use on the Fuji. The Fuji taught me a lot, so I think I will have a better experience this time around with the D7000. Hell, I am getting pretty good at judging Kelvin by eye. Last outing with the Fuji, I was shooting completely manually, down to the white balance. Has been fun, but I have had two gigs cancel because they expected "Pro looking" gear.

Steve, the Chinese lanterns in Manchester was quite a sight!

Laura and Raphael, thanks for the input on the 25-50 zoom.

Leighton, I liked the general store, especially the interior.

Buddy, the moss and bokeh shots are top class, and a fun pic of the relaxing dog!

John, glad you took the Nikon gear for that hike. That heads up look at the rising snow pine trees is fantastic!

Ray (OH), I especially liked that second of the snowy berry images

Larry, well done with the family portraits with the 55 3.5 Micro.

Mihai, thanks and glad to see you more regularly on these pages again.

Rafael, quite a setup with the triple TC!!

Peter (Knysna), thanks, I still have a lot to learn about the city.

Georg, thanks! Ken, thanks, but for an eye for architecture, Georg is a much better bet

Andy, very nice scenery from Queensland!

Chin, the drying seafood series has been delightful, very nice window into those scenes.

Ken, like the class ring and the barracks building. Especially that second shot!

Kevin, look forward to your participating on this thread again!

My favorite is the B/W against the fence, very well done. Is that the USA/Mex border? Which lens did you use?

Thank you!

Nah, that is just a fence by my house that goes around a warehouse. I use the 55mm 1.2 S.C. Definitely one of my favorite MF lens I have ever shot with.

Thanks guys. I have a couple other things I am trying to sell off. On my "to buy" list is a 55mm 1.2 S.C. I also want a good rectilinear wide angle (something to shoot wide on Dx). I may get that with a 17-55/2.8 though, will be easier to travel with.

Kevin, the 55 f1,2 Ai uses the same optical formula and coatings as the S.C and it doesn't require conversion. Just a thought. I'm thinking of picking up one of those because I can no longer imagine leaving home without a 55 f1,2 lens anymore

Ray,
I'm glad that the swap meet is only a few weeks away, is Reagan meeting us? The big hope is that some folks will bring their MF lenses in hopes of finding shiney new lenses with half the class.

Cadman - we had a bit of fog in the low country of South Carolina, It 7 ft below sea level and it comes on fast in the morning.

Leighton, love the nostalgic interior image of the general store. Great b&w conversion.

Buddy, nice take of the resting dog. He is watching you.

John, the hiking series is excellent. Hard to pick a favorite here, they are all good. Has the post-superbowl mayhem subsided at your home?

Ray (OH), nice snow and berries.

Rafael, that 400 3.5, is that thing a bazooka or what?

Andy, nice clouds over the playing fields.

Chin, like the drying fish image.

Thanks to all those that commented on my images from yesterday!

Here's a few more stragglers.

First the super-pano from stitching 10 images from the 16/3.5 fisheye together to get over 180 deg. of view:

f/8, ISO 100, 1/500 sec

Then a shot with the 135/3.5 AIS, followed by the fish again:

  NIKON D800    0.0 mm f/0.0 lens    16mm    f/8.0    1/750s    100 ISO    -1.0 EV
