This would make a nice personalized card! Why need Hallmark, when you could make your own!

Nice shot Ronny!

Samy inspired me with his door shot the other day. So after we had our customer pick-up, we took a walk around town and shot a little. I had the 50-135 mounted. And Barbara had her Panasonic ZS-15. She loves that camera so much she's been through 3 of them!

Sandy, very nice ape-portrait! My very best ape-portrait was also done with the legendary 105/2.5 and also behind a fence (right now this male has some females around and much, much more space). http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/929565/1507#10805417
Wish you a nice journey to and through Italy and Israel!

Leighton, very nice set from your walk! My favs are the doors - well done, love the light! Btw, went the Panasonics "kaput" or were they lost/stolen?

Ronny, wonderful work with your "tubed" Nikkor's again! I like especially the white flower for the perfect imperfect symmetry (=total symmetry of the buds would be too much perfection for my taste).

Sar, I like basically every posted shot out of your hands ;-)

Chin, nice candid from the railway-station!

Thanks Georg, the light was great this morning. Barbara just wore the others out!

Not only the red channel. In LR 5 one can use the 8 individual colors sliders to adjust the grey tones. LR5 is a great tool for b/w, way better than NX2

Merci, Philippe! I was just curious because your recent B&W's are a change from your earlier posted ones. Some were looking if just the red-channel (or an in-camera red-filter-setting) were used.

Out of curiosity: how many shots could she "squeeze" out of each example? Longevity is probably not the strong point of recent consumer-electronics.

edit: Tried to read-out the shutter count of my P&S's (Nikon Coolpix 8400 and Ricoh GX 100), but actuations seem to be not recorded with this cameras. My guess is that they both have at least 25k clicks on their tiny shutters, but can't say for sure.

If I'm not mistaken, she had over 20,000 images on her last one. The thing that goes out on them is the zoom mechanism.

20k clicks are not that much for a DSLR, but quite a number for a P&S. Let's hope Barbara's current Panny will be a record-breaker ;-)

Do any of you have the Katzeye focusing screen for use with your MF lenses? I've long wanted to contribute to this thread, but it seems that I cannot rely on the green dot for focus accuracy at wider apertures. If so, has this improved your focus accuracy?

I use a Katzeye screen on my D700. I got a good deal on it second hand from another FM member years ago. I can't say that it really helps. I still find myself relying on the green dot as I cannot really see the split screen in most situations. It would help if it had a true micro prism on the focus screen.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I suspect a micro prism would be of much more aid... I recently purchased an FT3 to try and use the focusing screen from it (awesome microprism) but as it turns out, It wont fit. Glass is same thickness and length, but the width was too short by a few mms.

Its buried in here somewhere, but there was another post here where the focusing screen from a different manufacturer was used (after being trimmed down). Search for it.

I also want to say that one of the Jon's used a Katseye or one of the other 3rd party screens quite well. I just kept practicing until I knew where each lens was actually in focus in regards to the focus dot and just used that.

+1

Leighton like the set, I probably like the window shot with focus on the tree with the red berries, nice light and with the window just a bit softened in the background, I really like.

Larry, Welcome and nice first photo's. Great to see another 50-300/4.5 on the thread.

nice shot Andy, but from the first page of this thread...

This thread is devoted to those photographers shooting with Nikon digital and film cameras who mount manual focus Nikon lenses, specifically those lenses with either Nikkor or Series E Nikon labels.
