Andy, congrats on the 180! Love the set.

Samy, 2 1/2 hours more to the SW and you could of come for a visit!

Andy, love your harbor-set! Fishing-boats in B&W are exactly my cup of tea (tea with something else poured in, and I'm not talking about milk or sugar ;-).
Congrats to your 180/2.8 ED, it's a great lens.
Btw, the first image of your set with the cat around the christmas-tree was excellent.

Samy, I remember your day-light-shots of the Suntrust-building and like the night-time-image too.

Leighton and Samy - no, I don't think about selling my MF-Nikkors, would only do so if I was forced to. Sorry for my mistakable choice of words

Here's another MF-shot, had really trouble to nail focus, a common problem at medium distances for me.

Phew...what a relief! Had me worried for a moment.

Love the reflection of the construction worker.

Steve, weight, size and money are not the only differences between 135/2 on DX and 200/2 on FX: in terms of IQ the latter combo is not rivaled by the wallet- and shoulder-friendly 135/2-DX-combo.

My guess is its his new big gun, the 500mm f/4(?). I agree, the first two are great.

Hope to have the D7000 before Christmas. I miss it... The Fuji was a great camera and I actually like the files out of it better than the D7000, but I was hoping for something lighter in weight, while the body is lighter, I ended up having to take extra stuff with it to accomplish the same task and the weight savings became minimal. Plus, there were issues with file conversions that made PP a more daunting task. The only way I

Kevin, I'm really sorry the Fuji didn't worked for you. I shoot the X-Pro1 almost every day now and like it a lot. But it's for sure not the best camera to use with longer MF-lenses.
I really hope the strap/harness-solution will make your D7000 more enjoyable to use.

Great images everyone.

This will be my last post for at least a week, since I am leaving to the countryside this afternoon.

Happy Christmas to everyone!!

Andy, congrats on the 180mm lens. Sometimes you need to be lucky. I was only bidder for a 55 f1,2 a little while ago.

Even though it would be very off topic here, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts of the 80-200 f2,8 AF-D on the D800. I love the lens on my D300 but have been wondering how it will perform on a high resolution full frame camera.

Kevin, looking forward to see your D7000 and 135mm Nikkor Q arrive back in this thread soon.

I might finally be able to do some photography tomorrow for the first time in a while. If weather allows Im off for a nighttime walk through an old city center with a good friend. I already packed a bag with a D300 and FM2, 14-24 AF-S Nikkor, 28mm f2,8 Ai Nikkor, 55 f1,2 S.C and 105 f2,5 P.C lenses and various bits and pieces that go with nighttime photography like tripod, remote release, some ND filters and SB 600 and SB 700 speedlites.

I still have problems with MF on my D800E, so most of the times I use my AF lenses.
With a granddaughter crawling around MF is impossible for me, so I sold a few AF lenses in favor of some AF.

Andy, mmm prawn trawlers. Memories are funny things, once I saw that, I closed my eyes and swore I could remember the taste of Gulf Spencer prawns, it was as if they were right in my mouth! Thanks for sharing that. I'm cooking prawns tomorrow for sure!

To be honest, there were a few things I really didn't like about the XE1 and none had to do with the final output. I hated the handling of the camera. My hands are large and could never get a comfortable grip on it. Had the thumb support and grip... The second issue was the EVF refresh rate. With using MF gear and the poor light I usually shot in, hard to nail focus. I agree it was tough with longer lenses. However I was able to use anything I wanted to with adapters. D7000 should be here next Thursday.

Thanks for the kind comments on the foggy night shot.

JD, that's a great kit!

Thanks Leighton. I'm glad you saw the night shot that way. I wanted the people there, but just barely.

Chin, I really like the look of "big bold fonts." "do way diddy" is great. It could be album art for your new band, Chin and the Salarymen.

Rafael, very cool 8mm shots. Love the clouds and "Queen califa" is awesome.

Don, another terrific night shot.

Andy, beautiful shots from the botanical gardens and Cairn.

Thanks Samy, your night shots are really well done.

Chuong, great full frame feathers.

Georg, I enjoyed your hockey shots. It might be a bush-league, but putting player numbers on socks is pretty fancy. I keep coming back to look at your still life. The composition, PP and combination of foreground and background oof with crisp mid-frame focus; masterful!

Chris, the bridge elements are very interesting. Great colors.

Jose, terrific job on the hand held focus stack. Beautifully done. A Happy Christmas to you and everyone on the thread as well.
