Ray, great motorcycle image. Like the b&w and the nice background separation.

Peter, I like your coffee shop challenge images. I will be joining the challenge using my 35 f2 Ai.

Chin, love the framing and textures in "adding syrup".

Jammyn and Ramkumar999, terrific squirrel images. The first has wonderful detail and the second a beautiful bokeh.

Georg, nice V1 shots. I tried the V1 for a while but it just did not grow on me so I sold it.

Mihai, nice series from the Ukraine. Lets hope there is a peaceful solution there soon.

Thank you to all for the comments and likes on the sunny barn image.
Scott

Ken, I lived in Angers as a student for several years ! Has your daughter studied at the Université Catholique de l'Ouest?
BTW I posted a shot of the fortress of Angers page 3343 post #17.

Ray Glad you are feeling better. The bike tank's reflection worked like a fisheye, very nice.

Scott Nice barn scene. You have white on white down pat!

Ramkumar Nice shot, interesting light through the trees.

Pete That place has a lot of character.

Georg Thanks for the info on the V1. I really like Ken's Fisheye shot, so I'm glad to hear about its practicality.

Mihai Thanks for posting those, an interesting glimpse into that part of the world.

Pete got me thinking about the 28mm f/2.8 so I went for a walk this morning with it mounted.

I most often use the focus confirmation dot and get 90% correct most of the time.. Metering takes 2-3 shots to get correct., but otherwise, I find them very easy.. Especially with wide angle lens such as 28mm or 35mm, most of the shots are taken at infinity focus only..

Interesting, thanks. I'll need to dig out my D40 and give it a try. I've been thinking of going mirrorless for a lightweight walk-around/non-photography travel option, but if I can make this work I'll do it.

Does anyone have any experience with the 24mm f2,8 N.C ? I'm considering replacing the 28mm f2,8 Ai and buying the 24mm in it's stead.

From my first guesses the edges and corners will be a bit softer and there should be some more distortion in the 24mm compared to the 28mm Ai lens.

Adding these guys to my growing manual collection. Why they call them repair manuals is beyond me. All they are is exploded part views and in some cases part numbers. Assembly and disassembly your on your own. I need these like I need another lens.

Thanks for your comments on my Kyiv pictures. I did some search and I found some others from the same location. Same D300 and 45/2.8 AI-P.

Last one is with D300 but with 200/4 AI-S. My copy is a lemon - I do not like the output I get from it.

Could someone please help me? I seem to have some really bad purple fringing happening.

Oh Leighton, put this outdated and garbage lens "not designed for digital" to sell.
Buy a modern plastic fantastic nano, VR etc, etc designed for digital

Loved the bokeh and colours, including the "purple fringing"

Tons of great photos and conversations since lats posting. This "like" button is a great add to the FM forum.

A question to any of you that have used the 20mm f/3.5 AI or AI-S:

Is coma controlled in this lens?
I ask that because in the 1982's "Eyes of Nikon" book made an extraordinary statment for the 20/3.5 ai-s:
" Highly corrected optical system virtually eliminate coma..."

If this is at least partially true I will be interested in this lens for night sky shooting.

I think Rafael made a comparison between this and the UD and revealed the newer lens is best at borders (coma corrected?) although the UD is sharper at centre.

Thanks for any feedback.

Chuong I figure once photons are converted to electrons, and subject to Expeed then anything goes as far as post processing.
Buddy Personally I find huge differences between the 50, 35, 28 and 24 focal lengths, with the best overall performance for a given task one of the 28mm lenses. I like the perspective best too. Besides the 24 is not so good.
Ron Cool looking manuals.
Philippe I don't know why I like it, but I like it alot. Great image!
Leighton I think you should learn to live with that kind of CA, very nice.

Jose, nice to hear from you again! To your question: the very strong vignetting and rather weak borders/corners at apertures up to f/5.6 (or f/8, depending on your demands) don't make the 20/3.5 Ai/Ais an ideal candidate for night sky shooting (opinions from a guy who very rarely shoots the sky at night).

I personally don't care for the "like" button it has made me lazy. It is too easy just to click it and be on your way. I use it a lot as I don't type very well. Not very personal I used to comment a lot and pointed out things about images I liked but of course with so many people here now I struggle just to get the names sorted out
