Nice to see those cat pictures!
Samy That film version sure has a lot of pop to it.
Leighton They must be growing out of a snowbank. I have trouble getting green right, but you nailed it.
Ken The fisheye and the V1 are a _great_ combo.

D800 5 image stack using an 80-200 f/4.5 AI @ 200mm and a 6T. This mechanical marvel has a wonderful focus action. This combo is not the ultimate in resolution, but fun until you run out of focusing range.

Hello Everyone,

I've been gone for a few days and noticed how quickly things in this thread change! Lot's of great images. Before we get too far away from winter I thought I should post another one of my old school Kodachrome transparencies. This image was made somewhere around 1984-1985 during a winter break from college. Lens choice would have been either my 105/1.8 or a borrowed 200/4.

My best guess on exposure data would be that I shot it using the "Sunny 16" rule, so I'm guessing 1/250th at 5.6. If my guesses about lens and exposure appear off to those of you with more experienced eyes, you won't get an argument from me. Oh and it was cold that day!

For Kevin -

One of the amazing things about this thread is the sense of community that we've developed.

Kevin joined us and showed us his skill, he then had self doubt (as many of us do), conquered that and showed even more skill.

We've shared his excitement at being given a bunch of lenses by someone who met and liked him.

We have become aware of his back problems and shared his anguish at not being able to stay with us. We have offered possible solutions but when he went away... we missed him.

Kev - you came back but the body has let you down. We would like you to stay.

In the light of all that I've written I'm sure there has to be a solution.

Perhaps you need to revert to basics - a Nikon V1 of some description married to just one lightweight ai or ais lens. Maybe even one of the famed pancake lenses.

You are a good enough photographer to make great pictures with a pinhole camera and if you have a combination that you could handle I have no doubt that you could make the challenge of one camera with one focal length make the rest of us envious.

In that regard I would like to issue a challenge to this group. Take one light lens - the 28 2.8 (ai'd) will be my choice - and submit only images taken with that combo until 1st March.

Let's go really retro to the days when we had no interchangeable lenses but made do - and very nicely - with our eyes and what we could do with what was available.

Any takers?

Got a bit of exciting news. One or two of my images I took of the campus I used to work at will be used and published for the campus catalog as well as online! If it's the shot I am thinking of, it was with one of my MF lenses.

Nice work everyone!

Georg, Dr Nikon ehh? They did not have you do anything else other than take images did they?

Ken, I like the first chair image.

Leighton, I am surprised the greenhouse is this far along. Really like the fountain image. Great saturated color.

Samy, a very patient/relaxed cat.

Bigdee, nice snow covered grass.

Philippe, I like the library entry. I enjoy seeing modern European architecture. The style is so different than on this side of the Atlantic pond. Those metal rod x-braces would never be allowed here for fear of someone tripping over them.

Kevin, congrats on the image!

Thanks Scott. Actually, this is the heated greenhouse at Millmont nursery that we visit once in awhile. I ONLY wish ours looked this good.

This thread slowed down for 5 minutes so I'll do my part

Thank you Scott

Leighton - Great Shamrocks. I like the Millmont fountain a lot. I have another Stearman for you!

Samy, Ramkumar - The cats make me want to take a nap! Nice looking capture of your animals.

Georg - The red shoes are the best. You sir have a great eye!

Jay - The water droplets on the focus stacked picture caught my eye. Nice!

BigDee - Good film capture with nice framing.

Phillipe - Centre Pompidou was a favorite of my daughters. One spent a semester in Lyon then another in Anger (near LeMans.) We transferred a lot and they were raised with the words "we will see!" when they asked about the future.

It was 84 here today and sunny so I went to the airport which is busy preparing for the Sun n Fun in April. Saw these planes and tried the 55mm 1.2SC and the 16mm 2.8 Fisheye.

(The 18mm EXIF should be 16mm. I set the wrong non-CPU data!)

Thank you Ken..

@Peter: I like the idea of a single lens challenge. I would probably use my 85mm f2 AI as a small single lens and it adds to the challenge being a smaller telephoto.
Here are couple of shots of the cats using the 85mm f2 only.
