Spent the early - and pretty cold - morning at a Navy-pier.
This thing was the only colorful subject I could locate:

Who would have thought an ashtray, loaded with butts, would make for a good photo? This one did, and I'm glad you left it in color.

A few with the 55 1.2 S at the botanical gardens in DC, the only place where there's greenery and color nearby. Didn't come across colorful ashtrays though

Ray, Reagan - Thanks for the compliments and encouragement.

Oosty - You birds shots were terrific! They never seems to stay still but you caught them.

Georg - The surfer was a LUCKY shot, into the sun, with the right amount of reflection. I never thought I'd see two tugs and an ARK.

Andy - I appreciate your "bravo."

SAPH - You nailed the windows … very difficult shot.

Leighton - I snapped many shots of that A/C to get one good one. We spent a few weeks in the Shenandoah in the spring, saw many farms but none as inviting as yours. Great - "Chore time looks cold feels warm" Great picture!

MP356 On the other hand you barn shots look "coo old" and feel "coo old." This is from a Floridian who sees very little (READ NEVER sees) snow!

Raphael - Colors look just right and inviting

Foggy - Appreciate you comment.

Luc - Very interesting and really cool shot.

I had three days away and know I may have missed a "thank you" or two! I know I pressed a lot of "like" buttons.

One last 180 2.8 with the TC200. Shot over the Atlantic at 3PM (1500) on last December 8th. Cropping, no processing.

Thanks guys
I love straight lines but it's beyond my ability to straighten that, tried for about half and hour but I can't seem to get it right
The teevees are 17 inches across I think

I thought I'd share how I took that:
Wrap strap around forearm
Pre-focus to approximate distance
Set timer to 5 seconds
Try to forget fear of heights for 7 seconds
Hold breath
Depress shutter
Lean out over and extend arm holding camera out as steady as possible
Other hand grips railing until knuckles turn white

>>

On a personal front, this is shaping up to be a super rough week
Working from 8am to 11 at night rushing deadlines
I can't wait to get home for the Lunar New Year next week
Me, the FE2, a bunch of MF Nikkors and boxes of film
Should be good

Cadman, loved the 55 micro flower set.

Georg, impressive your last work with the 85/2.

These days almost all afternoon we have some rain over here (wet season).
Inspired by Georg's love for the humble 85/2 I took my AI version to capture this unusual scenario:

The rain is coming, HDR with Nikkor 85mm f/2 AI by labecoaves, on Flickr

D600 + Nikkor 85mm f/2 AI + tripod, ISO 200, f/5.6 at 3 exposures -2EV (1/2000s), 0EV(1/500s), +2EV(1/125s). I tried to do a not overdone HDR.

Things are hopping here on this thread!
Thank you for all the comments.

Philippe, wonderful mood set by the Nancy street scene.

Leighton, I will keep a lookout for that book.

Jay, nice flower and colors.

Jeff, I like the b&w wedge rock image.

Larry, the Ft Worth skyline and bridge is very nice.

Andy, the first image in your harbor series is very nice.

Georg, nice butt can.

Samy, the last two from your botanical series are lovely. Nice colors and OOF background. Classic capitol dome image. Get them while you can. I saw a news story that it will shrouded soon for repairs.

Ken, nice moon shot. Probably pretty cold up there too.

Chin, great detail and clarity in the underground car park image.

Jose, beautiful catch on the stormy skyline. Nice colors and sense of scale.

Too kind, Reagan.
But It can be quite challenging to use the D90 with manual lenses especially for night shots (no metering and slight viewfinder).
So I look forward to getting my D700 back

Leading to the underworld! I like the "above and below" separation in this shot. Your remark reminded me of this one time in Napoli when I stood in the middle of a street to photograph a couple riding on a motorbike towards me. The man stared at me in disbelief as he slowed down at a far distance and, well, ruined my photo. I thought riders and drivers did not break for pedestrians in southern Italy. What a let-down!

Jose, very nice timing of the gap between sheets of rain to see the bright cloud on top of the cityscape.

Chin, very nice image of the carpark and entrance and your text description of taking the shot. Hope you get a nice break during your new year!

Scott, your recent snowscape pictures have been very well done and really give the feel of the environment. Snow's returning here tomorrow and I don't fancy myself wandering around in it with a camera, I lack your courage

Philippe, a very different view and processing of the Nancy street scene, but well done!

Jay, the color and flower from Arizona is great!

Larry, the Dallas skyline and the bridge is superb. The third one is cool too

Andy, I especially like the first and last of the dock shots. Very nice. And some of those flower images from Melbourne are tremendous!

Georg, looking at the ashtray pic it made me smile, nice color and lines. Although I am sure the odor coming from it would not And love that building and its windows reflecting in the water!

Leighton, love the colors in Shenadoah!

Peter, really enjoyed the Knysna Yatch Club B and W image, and colorful yatch basin.

Sar, wow what a capture of that predator in flight!!

Peter (Ohio), really liked the DC-3 and the other images in your set.

Rafael, the 28 is probably not the best for those sunsets, but you seem to bring out the best out of all your manual nikkors.

Luc, very intense image, seems like things rushing into a black hole

Mihai, glad you are active again with those couple of portraits! Very nice!

Steve, very well done with the zoom!

Buddy, sorry about the loss.

Chuong, delightful image of the F3 with the 20 UD.

Thanks folks for the comments on the window and the gardens/DC images.

Waiting to see if any of the film out for development comes out any good.

Thanks for the likes and comments on the flower, it was taken along the N CA coast, not Tucson. There's a load of great new images I need to go through on the forum so I'll be playing catch up and enjoying the process.
Ray Congratulations on the 20 years and the good celebration! And I think f/1.4 is all you need after seeing some great shots, can't wait to see what you do with the 1.2.

16mm f/3.5 @ f11 mounted on a K1 extension ring. Bjørn Rørslett wrote about using your fisheye as a macro lens, and it shows an interesting perspective. This combination rotates the lens enough so that the built in lens hood vignettes as can be seen in the upper left and lower right corners of the image.
