Wow, this is easily my favorite thread to view. I can't wait to get home from work each day so I can login to see the incredible photography posted here.
Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement regarding my images that I have posted.
And to think, with all the uber-expensive, plasticy, new Nikkors available today, we choose to use hand-me-down, camera show bargain Nikkors of years past to make incredibly beautiful images.
A great big thanks to Nikon and the F-mount for keeping these lenses useful with today's digital cameras

Larry, this is what happens when one discovers the joy of shooting with these lenses. They get addicted to the them, the feel of them sometimes is all it takes! Not to mention the results that they get.
As far as most popular, like Rafael said, that's a tough question. There are the "desert island lenses" that Curtis came up with. I believe these are the 28 f2.8 AIS, 35 f1.4 AIS, 50/55 f1.2 AI/AIS, 85 f1.4 AIS, 105 f2.5 AIS and the 180 f2.8 ED AIS.
Of course everyone has their own version of this, but this is a good start! Good luck with building your kit and I'm glad you found us.
