Curtis sighting! Browsing through a Leica forum yesterday I came across Curtis flirting with Leica lenses a couple years ago, but only for the briefest moment

Peter, good to see your photos from Knysna again, glad you got a break from golf

Rafael, always enjoy your 50-300 pics of performances. And that's a great looking lens too!

Buddy, nice mushrooms in the grass.

Here's one more of fall leaves, with the 10.5cm f4 T, I believe at f/4.

The DOF achieved by a couple of pix here is stunning.

The 3 dimensional effect on the rose Curtis is outstanding - great to see you here for the flying visit.

Love the shrooms Buddy - not sure if they should be picked .... I'd need a guide.

And Samy that leaf is stunning - the colour and the DOF

Rafael the 50-300 looks a fantastic beasty - I tried one many years ago but thought it too slow for what I needed at the time. I may regret that decision now. Oh well.

Nice Jugs Peter - well titled and composed.

Steve

Thanks for the comments on my pumpkins!

Nice to see Curtis and Peter drop in again. Take your shoes off and stay a while!

Samy, I think you'll like flickr once you play with it a bit. There's a bunch of us that use it and comment on each others work there.

Buddy, great mushroom shot. Nice saturated background.

Samy, the background on the latest leaves image is very nice.

Leighton, who is Curtis?

Your 10.5cm f/4 T is a very interesting and strange looking lens. I didn't even know it existed. How did you get it AI'd?

I'm a fan of all Nikkor 10.5cm/105mm lenses and I'm looking for a 10.5cm f/2.5 PC for my Leica cameras. But this T model is certainly stirring my GAS:-)

Here is a rather poor shot with my Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/4 AI:

Thats a very nice photograph. Especially considering that I own a 135 f2,8 Q Nikkor and never managed to get a single useable picture with it

The 135Q is a tough one, but it can be done. I have quite a few shots with it, love it on tubes.

I like it so much that it is one of the lenses I kept to use on the Fuji XE1 with an adapter.

I've been busy and have fallen hopelessly behind in this fast moving thread.
However, I bought 2 MF lenses in really nice condition, a 300mm f/4.5 and an 80-200 f/4.5 zoom. Mechanically they are really nice, but haven't shot with either of them yet.

Ronny Love the colors in the shot you said wasn't perfectly sharp.

Ray Wonderful flower and berry photos, nicely done!

Chin Another super minimalistic landscape, with sunset colors.

Rafael Nice processing, I like the strong colors and acuity.

Georg I like the Rostocker Luft with the person at the end of the steps.
The museum is a cool place to show the tilt effect on the 45mm.

Jeff Interesting night shots. The left hand trio of lights in Restaurant Row are strangely different colors.

Leighton Great 180 fall shots, the pumpkins are beautifully lit. I think the photo of the sign works better he way you shot it.

Scott Really nice fall miniatures with those leaves. There's nothing where I am in fall colors.

Steve The Swan photo is great, love the way the ripples surround the bird. The bridge and wharf photo is a visual treat.

Petur Nice colors on the tomatoes, and the 16mm shot's subject disguises the fish eye distortion.

Mitch I like the cardinal best, looks like you caught him mid-hop!

Birding with the 16 fisheye, novel use for that lens Jay, and very well done indeed!!

Mitch, those little birds are tough. Good try with the 200 f4, you may need to bump up the shutter speed even higher for those unstable critters.

Steve, the Transamerica building is neat, but that image of the gentleman sitting beyond the pond is simply outstanding!!!

Petur from Iceland, the 10.5cm f4 T will do well in your collection. It needs no AI conversion at all. Its preset aperture mechanism is in the rings at the front of the lens, and the rear mount has no protrusion to file down. So it fits without any modification to the D800, and I would think to all other Nikon FX and DX slrs. A corollary is that there is no communication of the aperture setting to the camera, and I am left wondering which aperture I used. The lens is fun to use, and I need to get more creative in trying out different apertures. The bokeh is not as smooth as that of the contemporary 10.5 f2.5 P, but has more "character". The rendering seems to be very different in some situations between the two lenses.

Samy, Steve, Chin and Ray- thanks

Leighton - I'm always here but sometimes I'm like the quiet guy on a bar stool in the corner

Steve - Stow lake is superb

Kevin - the focus on the dog's eyes is immaculate!

Jay - nice pics of your namesakes

Samy - very nice autumn colours and lovely separation in all of them. I remember from my early film days that a 105mm lens was always sought after and regarded as the best focal length for portraits. I'm sure this one is perfect on your D800

Rafael - great series earlier and the tattoo is well captured.
