Without seeing it, I wonder if the mirror is getting hung up on the rear element or whatever sticks out the back of the lens. Hope that helps.

Upon closer inspection, I do see that the entire rear barrel extends, and is probably hitting the mirror. Is there anything that can be done, or is the lens just incompatible?

Pretty sure the bird in question earlier is a Glossy Ibis.

A few more

1. Mock paddle steamer

2. GBR helicopter taking off from the pontoon near the esplanade

3. The sugar storage sheds - 117,000 tonnes of sugar can be stored in each one (there are 2 of them).

4. Moving big boats needs a big crane !

5. The Lagoon - man made as the "beach" in town is mudflats (birders from all round the world visit for the waders etc.)

Guessing incompatible. Like some of the old fisheyes, they required the mirror to be locked up before the lens was installed if shooting at infinity. Wouldn't recommend trying that though.

Thanks for the comments and likes on my dog shot!

Georg - I admit, it's a little dark in the mid tones, but I did that intentionally, it was distracting with the OOF area of the barn being in that range. I appreciate your critiques!

Jeff - Something a little different from you and I love it, what color! To my mind, the 50/1.2 is hard to beat stepped down.

Andy - Great set, I really like the look of the processing in the second image. I also noticed a couple of them looked like you added a split toning, am I right?

Plotters caught in the act in Strasbourg, scenic colors in Staunton and a photogenic Nitro in Sweden. Quite a start to this page!

Thanks Leighton. I have presets that I use (overuse some would say) in LR. The set I really like are a set of 10 that some swedish guy made for shooting live music. Cost me $2. So yeah, they may be split toned as a result of the preset. I just cycle through them and if it looks better to me I pick it

I think the one used in the 2nd image is called "CatMcPherson"

Hi Folks! I have not been around much, but I wanted to drop in and wish the whole membership of this thread a really Merry Christmas and a Happy New year! I hope you all find great photographic success in 2014!

Recently I bought a new camera that has just put me on cloud 9. Sadly, it's not a Nikon and it doesnt shoot Nikkor manual focus lenses, so my Nikon gear has been parked (not sold) for a long time. I took a holiday to Japan recently and found my dream camera at a price too good to pass up. She's a real beaut!

So now these days I'm shooting 6 x 7 medium format film and loving it. I'll get my Nikon out one of these days. I still have a ton of 35mm film in the fridge!

A landscape with a 180mm lens. I love it. You absolutely nailed this composition. The silhouetted trees are just pure perfection! A perfect 10!
