Your pictures are looking like fall Leighton.

Steve, Great parliament panorama, a much more respectable institution than our own.

Jeff, the first crescent moon is out-worldly.

Beautiful slanted falls Scott.

Went for a drive to Swamis with the 5cm 2.0 S, not the H, and the D3. When younger I used to surf this break every winter, how has time changed me!

This break is in Encinitas, north of San Diego, and is called Swamis because of the Self Realization Fellowship on the Bluffs next to it. This place has beautiful gardens. I feel a bit out of place with my tense Karma, but love it nevertheless.

I really like this last shot a lot. The fish appear to be floating on nothing!

Thanks for all of the comments on my flora photos.
Chuong great colors, especially the green and the zoo photos are very nice too!
Tony beautiful dog and a very nice shot.
Rafael thanks for the expose on the Nikkor 85mm's beautiful work!
Jay the Texas photo is perfectly exposed.
Leighton you have to love the dynamic range in you early morning photo and the bittersweet photo is perfect!
Chin beautiful colors
Steve your pano is extraordinary
Jeff you night surf photos blow me away!
Scott all are wonderful but that last photo is The Bomb!
Rafael the 5cm shots truly display how good that lens is in the hands of a great photographer

Leighton. that early morning shot is amazing. I really like the color and the streetlights

Jeff, that first crescent moon picture is excellent. I really like how the dark and a hint of light work together in that one. Well seen!

Rafael, those Koi pictures are really nice. I agree with Ray, a good photographer can really let that lens sing.

Today I received a package from China. With the small´ish viewfinder on my D300 I figured a split prism focus screen might make the use of these manual focus gems even more enjoyable. I decided to order a cheap Chinese made product first in case installation would prove to be more difficult then anticipated.

It wasn´t. The screen is in. Will play around with it for a bit but I might actually buy one of the Catz Eyes products later on because the markings on this screen are slightly off and it´s such a tight fit that I can´t adjust the screen any more.

I like this one the best. Were you using a ND filter?

Thanks Rafael & Scott.

Steve, congrats on the 25-50/4; and gret guardsman & policewoman shots with the 55/1.2;

Philippe, dreamy portraits;

Thomas, what a precious scalloped collection; and all lenses are CPU'd!

Ray, gorgeous flowers with the venerable 85/1.4;

Buddy, excelente tarântula (?) shot;

Rafael, very nice showing of the 85/1.8 K & 5cm s f/2 capabilities;

Jeff, simply stunning crescente Moon + Vênus;

Scott, very nice waterfalls.

My humble contribution today is these flowers with the old Q.C 135/3.5 wide open:

Tabebuia flowers.
D600 + Nikkor-Q.C 135mm f/3.5 ai'd hand held, ISO 250, f/3.5 at 1/400s; D600 DX crop mode, additional ~15% crop of the image.

Thanks guys for the kind comments on the crescent moon shots.

Scott, the waterfall photos are gorgeous.

Rafael, love the three dimensional look of your koi pond shots.

Jose, I really enjoy the contrast of the Tabebuia flowers in front of the light and dark bokeh background.

Leighton at your suggestion I have been shooting in RAW format for the last month and while on some photos it does make a huge difference on most I really can't see a big difference. It does take a lot longer to load the photos onto my old PC and the space it uses is considerably more. I just have to figure out which photos really need raw and which don't

Thanks Jeff.

This is not really my cup of tea, since I truly am shy to approach people for portraits, but as the girl is my student, during a fieldwork trip I was "courageous enough" to experiment on her a portrait's comparison of wide open vs. f/8 from my Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 K ai'd.:

Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 K bokeh comparison: wide open vs. f/8 by labecoaves, on Flickr

D600 + Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 K ai'd & CPU'd hand held, ISO 250 (left), ISO 1000(right), f/1.8 (left) f/8 (right); at 1/640s (left) 1/100s(right).
A non scientific comparison, since at left there is some sun light on the model, not the case at right, and ISOs were different too. Anyway I think it is useful to show the pleasant bokeh this lens delivers wide open.

Hey all, just dropping by to say hello. Still haven't figured out what I want to do about my camera, but I have figured out what I want to do with my lenses... I have been a fan of the Series E lenses since I got the 28, 50 and 100. I want to round out my collection with the 35, 135, and the 75-150. Anybody want to trade me for the Series E's I am looking for? I have AI'd, AI and AIS (I think I have a few AIS) to trade in the same focal lengths and for the 75-150, I have the much loved 80-200/4.5 with the square baffle.

James, missed your grasshopper image with the 200mm micro lens. Superb!

Rafael, you and Jose have had excellent 85 1.8K shots recently. Beautiful results from that lens!

Rafael, great demo of the 5cm f2 S. That's a neat lens to look into.

Leighton, loved that image of the market at dawn, and also the vegetable basket with the pumpkins right after that image! Oh wait, also that jazz singer too. Terrific lens - the 50-135.

Chin, nice night time image of the casino and resort. Neat architecture.

Steve, great work with the pano for the Parliament building scenery!

Jeff, good to see you back! And a very nice capture of the moon and Venus.

Scott, you have gotten those water shots perfected. Those waterfalls are perfect! I have the same question as Leighton, did you use an ND filter?

Thanks for the well wishes... They aren't really...almost daily I have to "med up" to sleep at night. During the day I stay away from the hard stuff and only use OTC meds to manage pain. I don't need to nod off during work or get all weird. I haven't touched my camera in over two weeks. I am looking into a wrist strap that actually attaches to my wrist so I can let go of the camera if I want as well as a backpack. I haven't taken a different system off the table just yet, but I want to try and stay in DSLR land a little longer.

The other thing I like about the Series E line is their weight, they are pretty light considering their Nikkor counterparts. I know they aren't as nice as the Nikkor lenses, but on a Dx, those differences get a lot smaller and I always like the underdog.

Went looking for fall colors with the 10.5cm 2.5 P. Should have had the 400 5.6 AIS in a bag.

First, a turtle mom was leading the way for its baby. Maybe they were on the way to a log to sun themselves on.

Colors.

The blue heron is glaring at me, it wants to know why I am so close to it, why did I not bring the 400mm walkaround tele??

Lonely fall leaf

A few more with the 10.5cm f2.5 P.

A branch peeking out.

Spider and web.

Spider on top. (As opposed to cherry on top)

Hawk way up on a tree. An extreme crop. Another place where the 10.5cm's reach was woefully inadequate.

And last set with the 10.5cm f2.5 P.

More fall colors.

A vertical branch.

And an extreme crop of the blue heron's face to show how angry it was.
