Laura, sorry to hear about Felix, I know how you loved him.

JD, I really like the last one of the Gull.

Dan, I know how hard it is to use MF glass shooting motor sports. I used to shoot drag races all the time. You did a great job, especially the panning shot.

I just love this image. Great composition with the main trunk over to the left and the branches filling the rest of the space, well done. Reminds me of NG photographer Sam Abell, he made a shot very similar to this.

And thanks for the 35/2 samples.

Nice bird series JD, looks like you're having fun. I had heard a GBH had returned to one of its ponds around here, but I'm sure it's gone back into hiding again since the temps went from the mid 60's to the 20's again.

Laura sorry to hear about your loss.

Went to the park again today wanted to practice BIF, and found a few new visitors. All with the 180 2.8

Love this series Scott. Rivers here are setting records for flooding, and now it's all freezing again. It's going to be a messy winter.

Very nice Dan. I couldn't help but think of how to change lenses in that environment... heh heh

Scott, I love the second one. What caught my eye this afternoon was the nice fog that envelops the trail leading into the distance. Then I saw that one golden leaf hanging over it all.
And I came back in just to look at it again. What's seen cannot be unseen. Meant in a good way of course

Leighton- Thanks. Still working the panning. Even with AF lenses, I had problems getting a sharp photo with panning.

I wouldn't dare change lenses out there. Not even inside my car.

We arrived, our flight way past bedtime, sleepy and incredibly hungry
The wind blew hard, boring deep into my knees
Food I growled and my friend obliged
Dragging us into perhaps the only thing open in his corner of the suburbs
A small izakaya, a pub with their brand of usual grub, open only because the owner
Was entertaining his own friends, the kind who only leave when it's no longer possible
To stay awake
Raucous laughter greeted us from beneath the noren
That blast of warm air, like my grandmother's embrace exaggeration demands

The polite exchange from my friend to server
A quick look at the owner who answered in machine gun staccato
Stay as long as you want my friend translated
And we scrambled in to the private room
Suitcases hastily deposited along the narrow corridor
Fingers wildly pointing at every picture in the menu
Simple meals - salty almost instant-like ramen, plain rice and bottled mentaiko
We lapped it all up, hunger the ultimate decider of quality
That final back of my hand to mouth in satisfaction

Beautiful light on that beautiful dog, Ronny; and wonderful clarity and detail Zichar.

Very nice Don. The timing of the scooter light behind her is perfect! You are the master of these night shots.

Chin, nice composition, saturation, and detail in this. I liked your prose, especially the very last two lines.

Thank you Leighton and everyone else for your comments on the ice storm images.

Leighton, this was my first outing with the 35 f2 Ai and I must say I am quite pleased. It delivered very sharp and contrasty images. I like the touch of the focus ring better than my 28 2.8 Ais. Could be trouble brewing in my lens bag.
