BTW, I had a bagful of lenses, the 14-24, the 55 1.2 S and the 90mm f2 Summicron, and ended up only using the 28 3.5 PC. Maybe I should get the hint and not have more than two at a time. Less wear and tear on the body

Jay that beautifully lit up church with the 16 fisheye is wonderful!

Chin your nightscapes look like they belong in a glossy travel book in bookstores.

Jose, enjoyed the plant with the great 105 2.5 P lens!

Ronny, great look at the graffiti! And superb focus and capture of that bee in flight.

John, looks like a personal copter for one! Something you would land and takeoff from your front lawn?

JD, terrific pelican images. That streched jaw is quite a unique behavior. Maybe Jose may have some insight on why a pelican does that weird stretch. And super capture of that gull in flight. I am vicariously enjoying the 500 F4 P through your pics since mine spends way too much time enclosed in its case And btw, terrific image of your Nikkor collection.

Steve, wonderful architectures and colours! I really liked the gate to the wholesale fish market.

Andy, really enjoyed the HDRs, especially the old Bedford truck. And quite a cute kitten under the Xmas tree. And if you have only browsed up to 300 + pages you got a long ways to go yet Your work with the 28 2.8 and the 55 3.5 micro is super!

Luc, delicious bokeh and colors with the Df/50 1.2 AIS combo!!!

Scott, I like both versions of your retake of the church. Very nice!

Ray (Ohio), very sweet image of the tree in the superbly lit snow at dawn. Really captures the mood at the scene.

Don, those suspense book covers never fail!

Peter (Knysna), very interesting fruit of that invasive plant in your area.

Jeff, haven't seen much from you lately but really enjoyed the foggy scene!

And that's right Leighton, haven't seen much from Georg also lately.

Rafael, that sky with the 8mm is superb. Capturing the whole sky with a huge part of the light spectrum is quite some thing! Beautiful lens and must require quite a lot of care in handling with that huge front element out there.

Just got to FL last night. Woke up early this morning early due to 1hr time difference. I stepped outside and saw these flying around. Ugly bird but good enough for me to use my 600mm f5.6

And this one came so close. This is the entire frame. It was accidentally in focus

Don, I love your work. Really like the composition in this one. My personal preference is for the sepia toned or gray toned images vs the blue cast in this one. Great work!!

Thanks Jay! Quite a bit more to explore in Bawlmer yet

Chuong, great pics of the vulture with that monster lens! And that's the most feather detail on a vulture I have come across. I believe an example of a turkey vulture.

Great last few pages of images!

The wonderful night time images from several of you folks have been inspiring me to try my hand at night scenery.

Here's a few from Baltimore, all taken with the 28 3.5 PC. As usual the shifted images show up its weakness near the top, but this is such a fun lens I don't mind its asymmetrical approach to sharpness

Baltimore's Washington Monument lit up for the season.

Samy, I like this night series a lot. Especially the first one of the Washington monument. I did not know Baltimore had a Washington monument.

Chuong, nice work with the long tele. Were these hand held or tripod? Since you are in FL, keep an eye out for Ray and Reagan.

Nice work. You have a steady hand.

Probably just as well the three of you do not get together. Who knows what kind of buying/selling/trading would go on.

Thanks guys
Rafael, I wanted the reds of trees on the far left where the setting sun was hitting it
But also some semblance of a foreground boat
The 28 wasn't wide enough naturally, as I was standing on the bridge so I fired off a quick pano
Liked that the 'mini jetty' and queue leads in from the right, unintended of course

The ubiquitous 'salaryman', usually spoken, no escaping from one's lips in an almost disappointed fashion - sahlahreemahn

You should see the rest of the church. Beautiful gothic architecture. I guess now I'll need to find an excuse to head to that neighborhood and take a picture for posting!

Thanks Leighton, I plan to use the 50-135 3.5 much more. It is sharp and has nice color, contrast and good bokeh. My 80-200 4.5 does have the square baffle, I think I heard a few here say that was the one to get.

Thanks for the comments and likes on my pictures all.

Some great shots tonight.

JD

Interesting comment Leighton - I only have the f4 and I can find no fault with it at any focal length. If the 4.5 is better I'd be interested to know in which way.

Peter, to be perfectly honest, I can't really say having never used the f4. I'm going by what others (including BR) has said about the two of them. Bjorn did say that flaring and ghosting were worse on the f4. You'd probably be hard pressed to see the difference. Doesn't really matter as you can get either one of them for under a hundred bucks.

In fact, I'd be willing to sell mine if anyone is interested, just PM me.

Hi there,
nice to see things are running in a smooth manner at my favorite FM-thread! Sorry, I have the yearly X-mas-blues and grieve over my photography (especially the paper-related stuff).
Anyway, I still haven't sold my MF-Nikkor's and can share some fresh shots with it.
Went to a bush-league hockey-game this evening and tried the 135/2 Ais for some shots. To be honest - I prefer AF-lenses for team-sports, my keeper-rate is just much higher.
With AF I can concentrate on action and framing, tasks that are secondary when I put my focus on manual-focusing ;-)

D700 at ISO6400, 135/2 Ais at about f/2.2 or 2.5, 1/500sec. - a better shot of those players was out of focus

technical specs like above, cropped a good bit, maybe my best MF-shot from today

and now for something completely different:

a still-life (pardon) from the local pathology, D3s and PC-E 45/2.8

Couple of quick questions:

1) Is this a good guy to send the lenses to for conversion? http://www.aiconversions.com/index.html

2) Are there any of these lenses I should not bother sending? I've read the 300mm is lousy, but I'm still curious to shoot with it I have a 50 1.4 Nikkor S, 135 2.8 Nikkor Q, 200 f4 Nikkor Q, and a 300 4.5 Nikkor P - the very first one.

Thank you!!!
