Bored. Here are almost all of the MF lenses I have. Two are missing. 28mm f2.8 AIS and 50mm 1.8 AI. They are in their boxes and I was too lazy to take them out. Image taken with a 28mm f3.5 K

Collecting walnuts looks like fun and the lens line-up is impressive. Nice collection.

Thanks Scott and Chin.

Chin - I learned the lesson from my first time trying to de-husk them. Also, the trees are tall and those fruits are not soft. I took her out to pick them only after some strong winds passed through.

Buddy, thank you.

Leigthton, thank you. Love the carrots.

Thank you Scott. The cabin is underexposed, force the exposure +1 to +2 and add contrast.

Tom, great architecture.

Chin, fantasia ruin.

HCE, beacons of light, love it,

Thank you Ray.

Quite a nikkor colllection Chuong, and they are choice selection.

Time to end the 15mm obsession, it took from June through September for Nikon to fully fix the 3.5ais. To close out I took the 15mm 5.6 for a stroll. It was a weird weekend, with strong Santa Ana winds. Blowing the palms at my house in this photo.

nikon nikkor 15mm 5.6 ai D800 palms in santa ana wind by Rafael CA, on Flickr

The 5.6 is sharper than the 3.5, just a little, but it has a lot more curvature of field. This lens also shows the infamous blue blobs, which I don't see in the 3.5 ais. This 15mm 5.6 ai lens is rare, only seven hundred were made with mine in the last hundred, and few are in like new condition, like mine is. There were 8000 15mm 3.5 ais made and mine is in the last three hundred or so.

Good architectural lenses

Rafael love all the shots with the 15 5.6, saph great lens comparisons and bird pic's. liked the egret and frog pic among others. Far too many to list individually, playing catch up and all.

For me the first takes the blue ribbon
The shadows are perfect, and outlines illuminated just enough by the bare bulbs (which you managed to maintain the shape and not blow it off as globs of white)
Stuff looks... tasty. What did you eat?

Thanks!

I ate....nothing.

I only eat a vegetarian diet and I dont think there was a single vegetable in any of the 100 food stalls. All sea food and meat. I was a pure bystander.

Leighton, Awesome carrots.
Ray, Like the egret.
Tom, I enjoyed the Suzhou canals photos, and Suzhou food market at night.
Rafael, I had to giggle at the group photo...you appear 4.5 times in it.
John, the stand up paddle boarder image is great!
Chuong, love the composition of the children on the wall!
Scott, like the hearth.
Ian, another toned image that works. Though - I would prefer a deeper more blood red hue. Fog machine ...works for me.

Sorry to those I missed. Been dealing with some stuff.

Yes, the colouring isn't ideal but it came from a very unpromising original that was a bit of an afterthought. The "fog machine" is entirely post-processed. Had to hide that fence somehow!

I like that - the faces give it a nice focus. I've tried using Delta 3200 but find it too grainy for my taste. Looks good here though.

Quick question on modifying a pre-Ai lens without a kit.

The depth I would have to cut out is approx. 1.5mm. The cut starts 5 apertures from the widest aperture notation towards the smallest aperture but not further then the distance for those 5 aperture notations.

How far exactly does the cut extend in the other direction, so past the aperture numbers?

What happens if I would cut the aperture ring too far in that direction?
What happens if I do not cut it far enough in that direction?

Maybe some of you guys who already modified one of these yourselves could answer these questions.

There are two types of AI mods, A and B (http://www.aiconversions.com/notes.htm).
If you cut too far the other way, then it might affect your type B conversion. For me, I only use type A, so I don't need to worry too much about how far I cut the other way. To be safe, I cut it about 1 inch the other way. I made about 10 mods for myself and I haven't had any problem with that distance.

What happens if I do not cut it far enough in that direction?

If you didn't cut far enough, you will have problems attaching the lens to the body. You can break your body's meter coupling lever.

Each lens is cut differently according to the Fstop. I don't have the site but look up AI conversions and you should find the chart on one of the sites
