Peter, wow, the South-African sunset is beautifully captured! The fishing boy looks pretty stylish. Hope he had the same luck with his fishing rod like you with your D200 ;-)
Btw, "Street-fishing" in cool clothes, with rods and reels painted in comic-colors, and preferable with some super-expensive custom-built japanese lures in the heart of the city is a new trend for some years now. The sports-fishing-industry and -rags are trying to get some new customers ;-)

Jay, I like your sunlit storefront a lot. The punchy colors work great here, and the framing is very effective. A classical color-photograph!

Sar, your work continues to impress me! Excellent and very unusual bird-portrait. Great to have you "onboard"!

JD, very nice bird-portrait with your 200/2! Cropping out the twig at the left side would enhance the impact of this fine picture (no offense meant).

Andreas, Glückwunsch zur Df! Die klassischen Nikkore passen optisch perfekt zur schwarzen Df. I hope we'll see some more shots from you here in the near future.

James, you've caught a wonderful atmosphere with your new old 135/2! Btw, thanks for the hint with the cycling LED's - basically I know this behavior, it just takes a "broken signs-shot" with a short shutter-speed to remember this…

Scott, what a nice first-snow-set! #3 is clear favorite for it's excellent colors and framing, but the B&W-image is very nice too.

Rick, nice set with your 50/1.2! I like all three shot, hard to pick out a fav ;-)

Georg, I agree and I was thinking the same thing earlier today and turned it into a vertical shot. keeping approximate height of original but cutting out the left third or so.

Great shots again today, love the sunsets, pic's of DF's etc.

Leighton I have heard others say they were pleasantly surprised with KEH.

Congrats on the 50 1.2 Eric.

Thanks all,
JD

Some shots from the local christmas-fair. This market/fair is really large and I couldn't make it to the piggy-roof ;-) At least I have some weeks to get a nicer shot of the "Bratwurst-Bude".

Couldn't find a decent view for or with the 16/3.5, this was shot from a monopod

D3s, 16/3.5 Fisheye-Nikkor at f/5.6, 1/8sec from a monopod, ISO1000

D3s at ISO400, Ais 50/1.2 at f/2.8, 1/25sec from a monopod
A longer shutter-speed would have "caught" more of the blinking lights in "switched-on-mode", but would have blurred the moving people more.
Maybe I try something with a really long shutter-speed.

I was not the only one taking pictures:

Ais 105/1.8 at f/2, D3s at ISO800,1/100sec. framing is sub-optimal, had problems to find a safe place in the crowd ;-)

Finally found a nice 85/1.4 AI-s. Waited quite a while here and on ebay and finally found a like new and boxed lens from a dealer in Japan. Paid about the same price as nice ones without boxes. Its very difficult to get good shots at 1.4 and I'm still working on it. Took it out for a quick spin in the back yard today and captured my dog at 1.4 and the spy shot of my son raking leaves is at f/2.

Also posted a nice shot with my 50/1.2 AI-s. I think it was shot at f/2.

Andreas, congrats on the purchase. That sensor looks like it offers a lot of potential. How would you say handling compares to for instance a Nikon FE or FG?

Jim, very nice winter impressions with that 135 f2. Rich colors!

Scott, snow covered sunflowers. Your 200 micro Nikkor renders OoFdetail very nicely and very smooth. Awesome colors on that last shot with the micro Nikkor.

Rick, congrats on the 50 f1,2 lens. They are indeed small lenses that can easily fit in any photo bag and very versatile as well.

No new photographs from me. A very good friend of mine had to go to the hospital for a while and I went to visit her a few times. I did bring my camera and we did go out for walks in the nearby forest but because there was so much to talk about I did not get around to making pictures and don´t regret it.

Instead I drove through Germany some 1000 miles or more, Had time to think a lot and do very little this past week.

The snow has decided to stay.

I revisited the sunflower field with the 200 f4 micro. Then a couple images of some bittersweet. Lastly a b&w conversion of an intensely blue sky, bare trees, and snow.

Thanks for looking.
Scott

Man, am I glad you kept the snow up there! What a nice set, I love the last two. Good shooting friend.

Eric, congrats on getting one of my favorite lenses. I love how the chains look like they're moving in this one. I also like the light. You're gonna have fun using this lens.

Wow, looks like the county fair I shot this year, only colder. Nice shooting Georg and I think the 16mm shot worked well.

Dan, congrats on the 85/1.4! I STILL don't have one in my bag, maybe one day. I know this one was with the 50, but it's my favorite. I just LOVE how this lens renders.

Thank you leighton! I am looking to buy the Hr-2 rubber hood for ultimate compactness. My lense came with the hs-9 but I want something more compact as I like to always leave the hood on. I also bought step up ring for my macro lense so that I could use the polarizer I just order too. After that I should be set!! Haha

Bought this lens from Choung recently and he delivered it to Kentucky for me
I like the 35 FOV on the crop camera
I haven't been in snow in 40 years and with lows in the teens I couldn't wait to get back to Florida

Good to see you Reagan. I thought perhaps the first shot was Chuong delivering the lens.

Now, take a trip up north to visit Scott and see what Winter is all about.

Thanks Eric, Georg, and Ray. Here are endless opportunities to shop under beautiful skies.

Sar Marvelous owl shot.
Andy I like the look of the black DF and the results you are showing.
Jim Beautiful bokeh with that 135mm. I need to let the 55mm cool off so I'm keen to try a longer focal length with tubes.
Scott Really nice snow and red berries.
Eric Hope you are enjoying your new 50, I especially like the graphic quality of the frosty fence.
Georg I think those night carnival shots are great, good shooting!
Dan Congratulations on the new lens. I have an af version but find the focal length difficult to use for some reason.
Reagan At least you made it up the driveway, that one must be fun when it is icy. I love the 35mm fov but the clothesline shots are sweet.
