Ron, congrats to your Df! The 55/1.2 is a very nice match. How do you like the finder compared to the D800?

Leighton, very nice and cheerful family-shots! The B&W-portrait of your oldest daughter is really great, I bet she loves it.

Chuong, nice bird-shots with your 600/5.6! I see a really long Nikkor in my future, but not in the next months ;-)

Thanks for the comments on the pigeon man photo.

Great pic's all a very nice range of subjects. Great family pic's Leighton! Congrats Ron on the DF, I have a feeling your going to make me regret not pre-ordering it

I was able to get my first MF pic's of a humming bird. It was very shy of any movement, especially the camera with the big 200 F2. This lens is going to force me to replace my broken tripod head. Holding this lens with a D800 up for 15min at a time being perfectly still is pretty painful Taken @ F2 - 2500 SS

Thanks for looking,
JD

Two shots from today, nothing special, I know some fellow MF-shooters have a thing with heavy things on tracks ;-)
While I shoot a lot of stuff for local papers with the Fuji X-Pro, MF-glass on the Nikon has still it's place.
My hometown got the first of a new series of trams/cable-cars. Unloading it from the trailer was a pretty tight maneuver:

D3s, 55/1.2 wide open, Kodak Portra 400VC-preset - the blue is a bit too cyan

Some older cable-cars are used as utility-mobiles, painted in bright orange (Portra 160 preset)

D3s, 135/2.8Q wide open, 1/60sec (the LED-letters were "puzzled" at shorter shutterspeeds)

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Jay, loved the last example of 55/1.3 bokeh;
Sar, tack sharp water dragon portrait, and at 1/15sec!!!!!!
Leighton, great capture of "the motley crew";
JD, fantastic hummingbird captures.

Another example with the 300/4.5 ais IF-ED wide open:

Juvenile Pale-breasted Thrush

Juvenile Pale-breasted Thrush with Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 EDIF by labecoaves, on Flickr

D600 + Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 ais EDIF hand held, ISO 1600, wide open at 1/250s. ~6m of distance, ~35% cropped. Exif is wrong at 360mm (my fault at menu inputing data).

Georg - Did these go in the paper? Pretty cool how they slid it off the truck on to the tracks.

Jose - Great shot! Very sharp and cropped too.

Jose, the juvenile Trush is wonderfully captured. As stated many times before I like especially how do you include the natural habitat of your feathered subjects.

Ray and Leighton - thanks! The folks from the local cable-car-company are great guys to chat and work with. And Leighton, no, sadly no MF-Nikkor-shot in tomorrows paper (I've shot the unloading from another angle with the Fuji and a Nikon 14-24 too).

Thanks so much everyone for the kind comments and all the likes on the hummingbird pic's. I was very excited to be able to get them with a MF lens. With the sun dropping quickly and in and out of cloud cover also, the fast lens really worked well so I could keep a fast Shutter.

great pic's this afternoon,

Georg, I always love heavy metal on any kind of track, really love seeing it off loaded and being set up.

Jose, that Thrush.. WOW. Great detail and a awesome pic! Makes me want to dust off my 300.

Thanks again for the comments and the sharing of great pictures.

JD

There have been some great bird shots over the last few pages. Great job everyone.

JD, where did you find an MF 200/f2? And would you mind posting some lens porn pics of it?

Samy, I like the stone statue image. Nice conversion.

Ray (OH), great fall scenes. Like them all. Those colors are just a distant memory now.

Harry, neat image of the burrowing owl.

Leighton, nice pics of the family. Who is holding the camera in the group shot.

Ron, congrats on the new Nikon Df. Looks like great camera.

Georg, nice tram shots.

Thank you all for the comments on the snow images. I am sure there will be more to come. Winter has arrived.
