Ha ha, that's great, maybe we can start a door thread.

Too funny. On my anniversary, my wife and I went to a vineyard modeled after an Italian castle... I saw a few doors and even told my wife that someone here had a thing for doors. I hope to post them up soon.

Thanks for the positive comments. As you can imagine I'm still playing serious catch-up and am not sure who posted what and when. I love the doors and have a little contribution. From a very old tithe barn converted into a commercial "arts and crafts" centre.

Wandering around the back alleyways of Manchester and I found out the meaning of being legless

Or perhaps it explains the expression about losing your legs .... is it an age thing ??

180mm again

I was taken by surprised by this image.

As I turned around in the shop looking into the mirror to the barbers next door.

I was confronted with the image of a guy getting attention from the barber while still wearing his hat.

It made me laugh .....

Not the best pic but a bit of fun nonetheless

where did you find that in your part of the world? I thought you lived in some sort of bucolic idyll where morning dew is a daily occurrence, and concrete is a bad word. Nice clarity on the focused pillar

Peter (SA) - I really like the composition of the flowers and the old wooden door.

Peter (WI) - Thanks, it's the parking garage next to the Farmers' Market. It's about the only time I get to the big city.

Steve - Love the legs! I also like the salad, hope it was local.

It is a shame but lately I was so busy I had almost no time to stay here
Tons of excellent shots guys, as usual.

I am leaving tomorrow for more 4-5 days of fieldwork; apart my 300/2.8 AF-S VR1 + TCs, the 50/1.8 AI + 105/2.5 PC ai'd and the 400/5.6 K ai'd surely will stay in my bag too.

The last shot for next 7 days or so is one of my last trip to a savannah preserve:

Jacaranda flowers with Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AI wide open.
D600 + Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AI hand held, ISO 800, f/1.8 at 1/1250s.
The yellowish background is the result of dry season, now ending with the first rains.

Jose, I hope you'll have a good field-trip. I like your shot above and the rendering of the 50/1.8 Ai a lot.

Steve, the thrown-away legs are a really nice catch!

Leighton, the abstract is very well done. Love shots like this.

Peter from Knysna, the church-image is my favorite from your recently posted shots. The composition with the gravestones in the foreground and the massive tree at the right side works great for me. Is this a stitched image?

Ray, Scott and Leighton - the doors-thread is a great idea. I've never posted stuff over at the "presentation boards", might change my mind If you guys start a thread over there ;-)

Ray, the light is very cool on the 1st shot from the learning center (the one with the red benches). Your image looks almost 3-dimensional (I'm stereoblind and always wonder and/or think about spatial perception).

Ron, that's a really tasty photograph!

Chin, I'm glad that you got the shot unnoticed by the cooking woman. Not even the best photograph ever is worth being fried while taking it. Cool story and a very good shot.

Andy, very nice work with the 180/2.8! Cool subject too!

Scott, I like the moody coast-shot. The framing works great.

One of just a few MF-Nikkor-shots from the last weeks, still struggling with the 45 PC-E.
It's an amazing lens, I just have to learn to get more out of it.
This one is from an exhibition displaying the work of an artist couple.

D3s, 45/2.8 PC-E stopped down to f4, effective aperture f/4.8, handheld

Thanks Georg.

I like your "exhibition" shot. It would be cool to print it, frame it and then hang it on the wall next to painting.

It has been a while since I posted, however I have popped in ever so often to enjoy the fantastic images that are usually on display here.

I had a photo shoot on Saturday, and on the way home I pulled over, quickly mounted my 20f2.8 Ais lens to my D700 and took the following shot in Dania Beach:

I have to admit, I am impressed with this shot. I had that lens on my D7000 and couldn't get anything really workable. Nice job.
