Ronny and Jim, terrific flowers.

Samy, love the Poe set.

Here's a gritty one:

Ben, nothing can be compared to the Italian "Quattrocento" (except perhaps the "Pericles's century", 5 th BC in Greece)

A while back I asked about 105mm macro lenses. I didn't get the f2.8 or the f4, but I did try the tube suggestion with my existing 105 f2.5. Works pretty slick - so I guess I won't be adding any micro Nikkors.

It was hard to keep up again this week, great shots all. I went out to our rosebushes and tried a few things as inspired by some on this thread. All taken with the 135mm f3.5 some with the PK12

I've got nothing to show that's remotely in the same league as what's been on this thread in the last couple of days.
Last night the cats did their thing to keep the local rat population in check -

Baby rat - 45/2.8P using on-bard flash.

B&W because it doesn't need to be in color.

No - you're right. The Italians were blessed with a string of geniuses in that period. Of all the incredible buildings in Rome - my favourite is Palazzo Farnese - just bare brick, but such elegance. It's used as the French Embassy - for which they pay a peppercorn rent.

Thanks Eric, Curtis, Leighton, Ray, Tony, Samy, Georg, Scott, Jeff, and anyone else who I may have missed for which I apologize! Being finished feels great. It's been a long, winding road to say the least. Margot being born and the end of my PhD in just shy 12 months has meant quite a hectic time. Somehow I don't know if it ever slows down again though... maybe when I get to retire.

Ben, you really shouldn't sell the 85mm f/1.4 when you take images like those with it. Though I guess I can understand your interest in Leica R glass, the R thread over on the alternative gear forum is just fantastic.

I got out expressly to take a photograph of an abandoned chesterfield sitting in the small park next to my building a few nights ago with the 50mm f/1.2 AI-s wide open.

Thanks Chuong, and everyone for the nice comments. Chuong, is this your piano playing child...the one in the tunnel? That is still one of my all time favorites. Great facial expression!

I than you very much, these are fantastic, and heartwarming! To me, E.A.Poe was, and will be, the most intriguing human, this earth has seen! His contributions, brought upon by his passions, were what seems to be unmatched, by any other! The stories I read, and have read, are to me, souls touching, no matter how many times I have read them! The stories of lost loves, and every detail, that he pours in them, are immense!
To sit there, and imagine, Poe, pondering, as one of his famous books mentions, pondering, what will, and should come next, can leave anyone, that is to say, anyone, with a basic education, and with the heart, to wonder what will the next thought of his be like, what has shaped it, where has he been, in order to have received these ideas, libraries of the world? How many lives has E.A.Poe lived prior to this one?
How one individual could conceive such wonderment's, as his, cannot be found in one lifetime, in my opinion! The ability to open one's mind, soul, and capture every stressed heartbeat, was what seems, his blessing, a blessing, he shared with those, willing, wanting, needing, more! His tragic end to life, no matter what the circumstance, could leave one romantic souls, to wonder, if the angels, needed his presence elsewhere, more than the place he was sent upon as a blessing obstructed by eye's blinded by the unknown, or what has been taught, as unknown! No word, or multiple words, can, or ever could, express in any allowed detail, what my mind feels, when, I think about Edgar Allan Poe, and how his life, has contributed largely to mine own! 1849, October, 07 was his recorded passing, my fathers year, and date, of birth was 1949, October, 07, another shape embedded into my mind!

Wow, what a bunch of great images since my last visit. I was going to post some of my favorites, but there were too many!

However, I will say that I think Bert and Chin have really upped their game as of late. Nice work guys.

Had to shoot at the market with a P&S yesterday. Man, what a difference! I was able to get some shots but I didn't enjoy the experience at all. I want my D600 back.

Excellent photography on the last few pages!

John, your baby-rat-image is something very unusual from your side ;-) I like this picture and think about it as a document of "advanced nature-photography". B&W is a good choice here.

Philip, a surreal scene from Toronto. Somehow it looks like some dope-smokers just left the Chesterfield. Great and very moody B&W!

Ian, I like basically all your portraits. I like the mysterious character of the one above.

Chin, another fabulous sunset! I can almost see the clouds being pulled over my head.

Chuong, the portraits of your children are always a joy to look at.

So much for now, will try to catch up later.

One thing for sure Samy the Poe's did not have a lot of longevity in that family.. You should tell everyone the famous story about the yearly mysterious visitor!!!
