Here's an image that I would call a "photographic note". While killing some spare time in the evening hours I took a look at some possible subjects, but found either the light or the background uninspiring.
This "door", a side-entrance to the local city hall, was re-created this year (the "ensemble" around the old door). I for my part like the combination of old and new here.
The ambient light was already on a very low level, shot a frame, but will probably re-shoot this one with a better mix of ambient and interior-light.

Good to see many of the usual suspects still posting, and some new faces as well!

I've been in Zürich now for just over a week, finally starting to get my bearings and also finally managed to take the camera out with me today. Sadly it was raining and rather dreary, but I still managed to take a few photos from around the old town that I'd like to share. These three were all taken along the Limmat river in the centre of Zürich with the 28mm f/2.8 AI-s.

I know these are just excuses, but have been very busy lately, and with fall over, very little to get inspiration from around here. On the other hand you seem to very creative taking your D600 into room full of porcelain.

Chuong, funny portrait of the cardinal in the coldness!

Buddy, nicely illustrated story about your model #1!

Philip, great to hear/read from you again! Hope you and your family will enjoy the years in Suisse. Nice shots from a town that was not built with motorized traffic in mind ;-) Nice seagull-feeding-image - probably a future adventure for your daughter…

4mpx - very cool bird-portrait!

Weasel_Loader - congrats to your 20/2.8! That's a very good (=low) price you've paid in my opinion.

Scott, I like both riverside-building-shots, with a slight preference for #1. Your beautiful composition would have been even better if taken a bit more from the left side, but this effort would have brought probably wet feet in it's wake ;-)

Samy, I'm really glad that my suggestion worked out. The flag-shot has much more life in it now. Love the cats-shot!

Thanks for the comments on the door, the fishing-vessels and the de-fringe-comparison - much appreciated!

Some staged portraits done with the 16/3.5 Ai, shot in the last months. The fisheye and a 20mm-prime have teamed up and already replaced the 14-24/2.8 for many similar shots. The mighty AF-S 14-24 was my go-to-lens for close range portraiture, but after a while I've found my pictures with it looked basically identical in their composition. The 28/2 works great for this kind of stuff too, but isn't wide enough for many situations. Anyway, here are some shots:

construction managers/supervisors - fill flash manually dosed - TTL can't handle reflective stripes ;-)

idea generator, planner and builder of our local velodrome - this friendly guy started it 30 years ago

maintaining the ice at our ice-rink -
I've felt like a monkey on a sharpening wheel on the ice-resurfacer ;-)
