Just noticed this - perhaps too much time on my hands.

All of my AI-s lenses are built in a similar fashion: there is a silver, corrugated ring, in the center of which is a series of colored vertical engraving lines, with which to register the distance markings, in feet and meters, above this ring. Above this bezel is the focusing ring, and above that is the bezel that moves up and down as you focus.

Except for one lens. The 85 1.4 has no markings on this silver ring. Instead the markings are above it, on a black bezel where, on all the other lenses, the distance markers are. On this lens those markers are on another black bezel, again below the focusing ring, which moves up and down when you focus. Quite an elaborate construction: I wonder if any other Nikon MF lenses are built this way...

Wait until you stumble onto a "tick-mark" lens... Those are even more unique. I will probably have to go and look at all my lenses tonight to see if they look like your 85/1.4 now...My wife is going to love you for that...

The Georgia peach reminded me of the blue moon last month for some reason.

These are very cool. I have yet to get a decent shot under similar conditions, ever... What kind of settings did you use? Mono/tripod?

Two panoramas of the same place (Muir Pass looking back to Wanda Lake, which I posted up close yesterday). All with the 20mm f/3.5

evening - last light, stitch of 2 frames shot at 1/6 sec, f/8, ISO 100

early morning light, 4 vertical frames shot at 1/8 sec, f/8, ISO 800

I have a third pano of this view taken at 8am, but that's with the AF lens so it goes in the other thread

Can someone provide assistance? I want to post images that I put on mu Flickr page here. I know how to copy and paste the image address, but what I want to do, as some of you are already doing, is provide a means for those who want to click on my posted image to bring up the Flickr image in a larger file. When I past the image address I just get the image, no linkage...
