Anton - Good to see your work on here again.

4mpx - Welcome. Very nice capture of a Sharp-shinned hawk?

Chin - Thanks!

Georg - Thanks! Coming from a master of the wide angle that means a lot.

4mpx - wow, what an amzing debut-shot here! Welcome! I hope we will see more of your work here soon. The image above is spectacular - I don't even dream about nailing focus with a fast telephoto-lens on a fast moving subject.

Thanks georgms.
I'm a bird photographer : usually I know my subject and this helps me to get the shots I like, even with MF lenses.

^ Top-notch-stuff above! Quite an advertisement for your D2Hs. When shooting river-swimming-events I tend to pull some yellow out of the white-tones to make the spray/surf look less pee-like ;-)

Dean your B&W photos are first class. Very nice, especially the last one.
Weasel very cool film shot. I love flags!
Thank you Jay I see you have a stump of your own - great color!
Samy I love the view in this photo - great eye!
Buddy thank you for the comparisons. I can see that each lens has it's own qualities. Difficult to say which is best. I guess each one is best for different shots.
Rafael you have a fantastic collection
John you can sure pull the shadow with the new Nikons!
Leighton great work using the 28mm 2.8 and the portrait is fantastic!
Georg you have such a great eye for photography thanks for the examples!
Anton you are getting very good with the T&S
4mpx what a great set of surfers and the bird is top notch!

Jeff, thnx. My dog is the most co-operative model I know. She´s not really all that co-operative but trying to take a picture of any of the other women I know would result in serious damage to my camera gear. A risk I´m not really willing to take

Ray, I don´t think one lens is better then the other. As you say, each lens has it´s own qualities. At the time I like the 55 f1,2 better on my D300, but the 50 f1,4 better on a Sony NEX body. If I want harsh razor like sharpness with a shallow DoF (and am willing to do some PP) I´ll use the 50 f1,4 S.C. At f2 it has sharper corners then the 55 f1,2 S.C. If I want smooth I use the 55mm instead.

Both are awesome in their own regard.

Good to see many of the usual suspects still posting, and some new faces as well!

I've been in Zürich now for just over a week, finally starting to get my bearings and also finally managed to take the camera out with me today. Sadly it was raining and rather dreary, but I still managed to take a few photos from around the old town that I'd like to share. These three were all taken along the Limmat river in the centre of Zürich with the 28mm f/2.8 AI-s.

Buddy - Thank you for those comparisons.

Philip - Good to see you again. So are you now living and working in Zürich?

Georg, good presentation of the balance required when removing LOCA and the defringe tool.

4Mpix, awesome shots, though you are upsetting the GAS in this local ecosystem :-)

John, you D800 file rescues are amazing. Makes me wonder if the Df would have been a bigger hit with the D800 sensor (though I have not really researched the rescue potential of D4 files since that body was always out of the question for me.

Leighton, cool market shots. The northern part of the country is getting cold. Time to visit our MF friends in the southern hemisphere.
