For higher ISO images, especially dark exposures, the effect is more extreme, since you are dealing with much less dynamic range. I guess you need to back off on the shadow slider a little on such exposures, or things get noisier - as always, depends on the image.

WOW!
I go outside to smoke a cigar and drink a few beers, trying to cool off some in the evening occasional breeze and come back to a full page of just OUTSTANDING shots.

Both sets of hiking pictures, Mt Rainier and the waterfall , flowers with insects, space shuttle, white house, a beautiful dancer, dune/sunset shots all magnificent!

Thanks so much for a great thread,
JD

I says not enough variety for a holiday, let's add a rhino with the 400mm 3.5 and the TC 301.

last one for the day: a 13 frame panorama, more than 360 degrees, but I like the effect. Alien planet with two suns, captured on top of the hut on Muir Pass (my shadow is on the tip of that dark cone shadow). Again with the 20mm f/3.5. All frames f/11.0 and 1/125s ISO 100, handheld. 1600 wide, so I am blowing this past many monitors

Steve, these are "free roaming" rhinos in a large area of the San Diego Wild animal park that people have no access to.

A couple with the 180mm f2.8 ISO200

The first one calls to question the words of an old song "Who Wears Short Shorts?"

And then we get the folks feeding the pigeons ... it is a case of 'a bit for you and a bit for me' ??

Don't mind having to pan a bit to the right on my monitor to see such a great image.
Obviously we have some similar subject matter so I'm always keen to see what you have to offer!

Besides, I've done a few panos well over 2k pixels wide myself . . .

Taken this evening (UK time) Sheep farm in Lancashire using 28mm f3.5 ISO200 f8 @ 1/50th

Just like the UK farms I mentioned to Leighton a while back.

Just around the corner from the farm were these Swallows gathering for their journey south to Africa.

I think a rest and feed is allowed before such a long flight. And there is no in-flight service !!

Outrageous!!!

Great shots everyone!

Love the sheep Steve.

Had to send the D600 off to Melville. I know how to wet clean, but I had to do it more often than I thought I should have to. And while it's still under warranty I decided to see if they will replace the shutter. Maybe they'll give me a new D610.
