Hi gang. Here's one taken with the 50/1.2 in the Little Italy neighborhood, just east of the San Diego airport. I've always been fascinated by how low the planes travel over the hills as they approach the runway.

A few test shots at f1.2 were a bit disappointing (coma), but stopping down to f2 took care of that. Boosting ISO to a crazy level (8063) worked better than anticipated and actually stopped the plane without too much blur. The D800 clearly sees better in the night than I do.

Haven't posted in a while. The Nikon DF has my juices flowing so I took the 135/2 AIS out while trick-or-treating tonight. Used the poor-mans VR - i.e, pure lens mass.

Buddy, the 50/1.2 is maybe sharper, but at least at close or medium distances it's filed-curvature is driving me crazy. I don't know if my copy (bought already used in the 1990's) is out of whack, but this is a real problem for me. The 55/1.2 (I have a late genuine Ai-variant) might be a bit less sharp, but shows much less temper when it comes to field-curvature and vignetting.

Interesting about field-curvature with the 50/1.2, I had to look it up for a definition. I'm not sure I've seen this with my 50/1.2, but I'm going to have a look to see.

Jay - Nice find with the 1940 Chevy.

Scott - Lovely rural scenes. Looks like this could be around the corner. More please.

Ray - The M&M peanuts are great! The 85 I presume?

Jeff - Now here's a case of being at the right place at the right time. Great capture and well thought out.

John - Nice of you to drop in again. I know just how you feel about the DF! Your set is wonderful but I don't get something. Just what exactly are your girls supposed to be?

Thanks guys.

Samy, loved the crazy OOF lights;

Jeff, great timing!

Scott, liked the rich colours captured by the 28/2.8

John, what a crazy "mask" in the tree trunk

Jay, loved the cars' perspectives with 24 PC.

They had somewhat skimpy dance costumes on - but it was a bit cold, so they had to wear a jacket and some tights over top - kind of defeated the purpose. What you can't see is all the grown-up makeup they have on - mascara, eye shadow, lipstick, rouge, the works!

John, the "porch-debate" is my fav from your fine set. The color-cast works well to visually enhance the atmosphere.

Jeff, the plane-shot is wonderful! Excellent timing and fantastic idea.
I've found my 50/1.2 to be a lot better at f/2 compared to it's max aperture, especially at medium or great distances. For close-range-shots I like to open it up, though.

Scott, the fence-photograph is perfectly framed, the weather was cooperating too: very nice!

Rafael, the "devil with a neck-tie" is a great street-shot!

Ray, nice colorful bokeh-play! Is this candy of some sort?

Samy, that's some wild bokeh on your twix-shot!

Jose, very cool avalanche-shot from the Argentinian-Chilean-border! This part of the world must offer plenty of fantastic photo-subjects…

Tom and Scott - thanks for your comments on the "wood-set"!

Here are some shots from today, hope it's okay to fill this fine thread with some more PC-Nikkor-images ;-)

the local fairground-hall, shot this one after leaving a game-fair, D700, PC 28/3.5 at f/8
no or just minimal shift used

merged/stitched two horizontal shots with the PC 85/2.8D - one shifted all the way up, the other shifted down

the red "slip cover" made me shoot this after taking a few more usual images of the sailing vessel
D700 and PC 28/3.5 at f/11, shifted about 5mm down

Thanks Georg. Yes they are a very popular candy. I had a couple bags left over from trick-or treat.

Some fun with the 50mm 1.4 K AI'D. I keep trying to talk myself into a 55mm 1.2 but this little lens makes me hold off.

Finally, someone with a K 50/1.4... I have one of these that I haven't used because I didn't want to AI convert it. Glad to see images with it, very nice!

Been enjoying the photos posted!

I have been working a little too much recently, but walked out to take some pumpkin pictures last eve. Instead, I got a snap of my 14yo daughter by pumpkin-light, and kind of like it despite the blur.
