No sunlight this morning so this leaf came in handy indoors. Three cheapo studio lights arrayed close around it. Used the 50 1.2 AIS on a tripod with newly replaced wireless remote. (exif is wrong, thought I had changed it from the 35mm). Don't look too closely at the background. Had to clone out lot of bright spots

1/80s, f/11 and ISO400.

And so we arrived to pick up the keys from the Visitor Center
The intermediary, with said owner miles and miles away
I whipped out my wallet, the printed deposit sheet in my hand
When we were told that it just wasn't possible to pay
Because the booking wasn't done through the Center
But a third-party aggregate website

Chin, great story and beautiful image.

Thanks for all comments.

Leighton, loved the bokeh playing;

Peter (SA), what a view you have, nice debut with the 28 PC!

Samy, gorgeous red leaf;

Rafael, what a truly spetacular steal you got with that near pristine 135/3.5! Congrats;

Ray, simply gorgeous scenarios you have posted lately.

This afternoon I experimented for the second time my modified (by a Canadian guy at ebay) TC16A. It could be my fault, but with the D7000 and the 180/2.8 I had a low % of keepers. Perhaps my combo needs an AF-tune adjust or simply I need to use a tripod!!
We need to manual focus then the TC does a fine AFocusing.
Peter B is correct, the TC deteriorates the image specially wide open. AF was sometimes "hesitating"
This was the only decent shot with the combo this afternoon:

Male Burnished-buff Tanager

Male Burnished-buff Tanager with a Nikkor "288mm f/4.5" semi-AF lens by labecoaves, on Flickr

One of the first test shots with the modified TC16A + D7000.
Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 AI-S ED + TC16A (= 288mm f/4.5) hand held, ISO 500, f/2.8(=4.5) at 1/400s. ~40% cropped
Exif shows a 145mm lens at f/4, but this is due to the modified CPU. In fact ViewNX2 reads a 70-210mm f/4 lens!!

On my way home the other evening, just before sunset, I spied this tractor in a hay field. Leighton, it is for sale! I like how the driver sits off-center. Taken with the 105 2.8 ais wide open (as a test). I did not hit the focus as well as I should have.

Peter, maybe that is the next lens we send around the world...

That would certainly challenge most of us, Samy and Georg excepted.

Of course, that was a daunting exercise and I don't know if anyone is up for a repeat.

Good work as always, I need to use the 180 with the TC, like Jose.

This is the Retreat office at the Mission San Luis Rey, with the 15mm 3.5 ais, haven't heard back fro the supervisors at Nikon, but the lens works quite well. just a little tinge of haze if inspected under bright sunlight.

This is the main entrance corridor for the Mission San Luis Rey, need to tilt up as it is so high, a 15mm shift lens would come in handy, like Peter's 28mm PC.

nikon nikkor 15mm 3.5 ais D800 Mission San Luis Rey Corridor tilted by Rafael CA, on Flickr

It would look like this, perfectly level, entrance corredor at Rancho Guajome, three miles away. Better light too, for the D800.

A crop of this, if the field curvature matches the subject, the 15mm can be almost this sharp through the frame.
