When I went out to do chores this morning it was a bit foggy. So inspired by Scott's fog images I decided to take my camera with the 50/1.2 attached.

Stellar work, Georg! I love the bokeh too!

The pan-x styled shot brings back the memories...I sold an unopened 100ft roll a few years ago on ebay that I nearly dumped in the trash because it was 20 years expired. It brought 4-5 times what I had originally paid. Did you ever shoot with tech-pan - really loved that film.

Leighton, In my opinion, the level of your photos since I started following this thread has improved immensely! These are works of art - as have been many of your recent contributions.

Nothing like fog. I really like the composition of this one. Well seen.

I agree. The fog is nature's narrowing of DOF & bokeh combined.

Leighton, very moody and atmospheric shots! I like your processing too, the muted tones and colors work great.

Thanks for the comments on the "candystore-bokeh-shots"!

James, I'm too young for most legendary films ;-) Never tried tech-pan. I have some slowly fading memories about some classical films like Agfa RSX 1000 (muted colors, a beautiful grain), Agfapan APX 25 or Kodak Plus X.
Most of the stuff I've shot on film was done with Ilford HP5+, Fuji Neopan 400 or 1600 and Fuji's color-negative-films like Super-G 400, 800 and 1600 HG (?).
I've even shot some rolls of Konica 3200 C41-film, pushed 1 stop. Result was a grain that made the shots look like everything was in focus ;-)

James Thank you for your 35mm 1.4 comparison. I too have the AIS version and it must be different than the AI and earlier. My photos just don't exhibit the same characteristics.

What a delightful way to begin the morning... looking at so many outstanding photos. I'll second Ray's comment and thank those who are posting images on this thread... an unending pleasure to be part of this enterprise.

Just have to chime in here too: really wonderful foggy morning photos around your farm Leighton!

A couple of other randoms from the past dozen+ pages:

Tom, your photography story was great! I tend to agree that printing out photos is much more fun than looking at them on the computer screens. My wife and I usually try to pick one of my photos to have printed large and framed every year at Christmas time as a kind of mutual gift to ourselves.

Ray, that NIKKOR*ED 180mm f/2.8 AI-s was a steal! Congrats!

And, on another note, I successfully defended my PhD two days ago! Maybe now I'll finally have some time to get the camera out to play again.

I wonder Ray, whether that might be because of how you use the lens. To get the results we're seeing from Georg you need to do fairly close focusing with a busy background. The lens won't produce such results when used in more classical landscape setting and even closer work will be fine if the background is without cluttered features. You might want to test it out that way to see. I'm shooting with the AI-s version and I definitely will get bokeh similar to what Georg is demonstrating. Clearly he is choosing scenes that will highlight the characteristic of the lens... though I believe he is shooting with an AI lens that has seven blades and not the later version.

This was an early test shot I took with the 35 f/1.4 AI-s that shows some of what Georg is demonstrating.

Now you got to figure out what to do with the rest of your life...

Congratulations Philip. That is a huge accomplishment.

Thank you Curtis. I think I need to find even busier backgrounds. Here are a couple from yesterday. I thought these backgrounds might produce Georg's bokeh - almost

Perhaps Florida doesn't offer busy backgrounds... Those look fine to me.

My shot, like Georg's had some light coming through trees. I don't think the bokeh in the shot I post is as busy as what Georg has produced but I don't know whether that is indicative of 9 versus 7 blades or simply the conditions of the scene and the lighting.

Funny Ray that you're perfectly content with the lens and here we are trying to find problems... We're silly.
