Hello all, great images as usual. It's a real pleasure to browse this thread when I find the time.
Recently I've used the PK-11 tube on a 135/2.8E and really like the results.

Nice! The 135/2.8 is a good match for the D700. Hazardous use of a MF Nikkor!

One of many from today.

ALL the weather forecasts totally blew it as it was not supposed to be this nice today. We were supposed to do an over-night backpacking trip with just me and the twins. Instead I chose to take a walk-on ferry ride to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island for lunch and the weather was spectacular until the very last bit of the trip on the way back.

16/3.5 AI as usual.

John, nice blue tones and sunstar.

Thanks Ray,
My first real attempt at B&W. Did B&W in the film days but not in digital. Was doing these two in color but have been seeing so many great B&W on this thread I decided to see what it would look like. I like it and may try some more of it. I have some photo's with heavy fog on the AF thread I was thinking of seeing how they look in B&W.
Love seeing the variety of pictures and styles. Gets a person wanting to experiment and try new things. So much great talent I look forward to learning a lot .

Thanks all,
JD

@Georg, thank you. Samir is not my own but still like a part of the family. He is also a very nice subject helping me to get to grips with the 105 f2.5 lens

@Tom, the FM2 can not by default be used with these older non-Ai lenses. On the F mount you will find an Aperture indexing lever. That's the bit missing on entry level DSLR's which prevents them from metering with older lenses and it's the part that damages on newer cameras when mounting non-Ai lenses. On the older Nikon FM you can fold the lever upwards to allow use of pre-Ai lenses. On the FM2 the lever does not fold away. It's a plastic single piece design like on newer cameras.

John, the fourth is brilliant. You know Iím partial to shadows, symmetry and silhouettes. The calm pleasing blues are a nice touch.

Scott, very nice train images from up north. I like the reflection in the first one a lot, and the Ben-inspired image.

I have followed your fun train shots for a while and have thought about suggesting if you would want to also use a tripod and maybe get some slow shutter shots?

Thanks for the ID Ray. That is funny, I thought what a strange beak in that first shot, now I realize the limpkin was carrying something in its beak

Leighton, here are two more shots from the farm, taken in the style requested by the papers (eye-contact).
This one is from the apple-harvest 2009:

D700, Ai 28/2 at f/2.8, SB-800 highspeed-synced in a small softbox
I like the flare and the light - the framing not so much as of today

D3s, 105/1.8 Ais at f/2 - I don't recall the role of the ugly wires

Very nice Georg, you can tell these belong in the paper or even better, a magazine devoted to apple growers. The wire is used to keep the limbs from breaking when fully loaded.

Here's some shots taken today using the 35mm 1.4 After using this lens all day I do believe it is my go landscape and all around lens. Such a sharp lens and the colors render to my liking. Taken at Circle B Bar Reserve and yes I did use my tripod
The last one is using the 105 2.5P

Ray, all are very nice, but I like the way this one pulls you in to the scene. I can just imagine drifting down through there in a canoe.

Thank you Scott. I like the second one of "The Plates". I also like Samy's suggestion of a tripod and slower speeds to catch movement. You might also try some panning.

Steven, nice capture of the Copperhead. Haven't seen many of these up here, I think we're either too far north, or to high in elevation. We do however have the Timber Rattlers.
