A few more from the Taoist temple, and then some from a walk along the river here in Shanghai. All shot on Neopan Acros film, most shot with the 24mm f/2.0 lens with a few 50mm f/1.2 AIS lens as well.

Shanghai Tower under construction.

Will someone with a D7000 and a D600 please take two images, of the same subject, at the same setting, from the same distance, with the same MF lens, from a tripod and post them. The idea is to compare a full frame D7000 image next to a cropped D600 image (taken at FX) so that the subject is identical in size.

Then would they kindly enlarge the sweet spot for comparison.

Thanks.

Peter, some months ago I made a test that can be of interest to you. There are 3 posts in this page:

Look at messages # 5, 6 & 8.

If you need larger images to inspect, please go to the flickr link and right click on the image there, then select "large" or "original" sizes.

Leighton - nice boleh with the 1.2

Ronny - stunning colours

Rafael - not only humble but a past amster at sniffing out the bargains - well done

Ray - the water shots are tops

Howard - I don't recall seeing you here before. Love the sharpness. Please keep posting using your "boatload of lenses"

Jeff - the boats and pelicans are terrific - good to see you using your convalescence well

Scott - lovely peaceful rural America images

Rafael - the mission and Rancho images are great. Wish I had the cojones to outlay $800 on the local 15mm that's still for sale

Jorge - I love the scenery but do you go up there for fun??

Tom - the temple images are very good

Jose - thanks' I'll look them up

Every year I make my trek into the Enchantments Just above the hill 2200 ~ foot climb from where the photo was taken, is a different world! That does not include the climb getting to colchuck lake. Do a google search from Enchntments the click on images

A few years back, I was air lifted out on this bad boy !

Things move so quickly. In New York, there are thousands of piles of fresh garbage every day. In this thread, there seems to be thousands of piles of fresh amazing photos every day.

Jorge, superb scenarios!

Rafael, always loving your 15mm shots; is the f/3.5 better than the f/5.6 version??

RM (Tom?), as always gorgeous B&W pictures from China!

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Another two (lured by banana ) birds, this time with the "naked" 180/2.8 ED, late afternoon:

The Great Kiskadee with lens wide open:

D7000 + Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 ai-s ED hand held, ISO 100, f/2.8 at 1/200s ~40% cropped.

The Golden-chevroned Tanager at f/4:

D7000 + Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 AI-S ED hand held, ISO 100, f/4 at 1/400s, ~80% cropped (!). This 16Mp sensor allows a lot of cropping.

I really like this for a few reasons. Being B&W is perfect for this, the man walking by and sort of looking down at it, and the last reason, the sign above the store across the street!

Thanks Leighton.

That man is a garbage man, he was moving too fast, I wanted him a bit more centered in the frame.

The store across the street is a tourist trap. Around Times Square, there are many "camera" stores. They don't really appreciate actual photographers coming in, in my experience.

I went into one, asking if they had any film. I was shown some 24exp kodak colour something or other. Asked if they had any B&W, they said no and basically told me to leave. Before this, they kept asking me "what do you want?" when I went to the back of the store to look at their gear and "we don't have what you are looking for" and "we don't have anything for your camera" without ever having seen my camera or asking me what it was.

Love the different styles of NY and Shanghai posted.

Here's one I just wanted to share from the other night, 28mm series E, cropped somewhat.

Hi from southern Sweden,
sorry, I'm not able to follow the discussions here. Just had a quick glance at Jose's excellent bird-portraits, other pictures and pages didn't load (extremely sluggish internet-access in the harbour).

Here's a stitch of two in-camera-processed shots with the 28/3.5 PC-Nikkor. Not a fancy subject, just a picture of a neat and quiet little fishing-harbour (I love harbour-scenes).

2 horizontal, in-camera-processed shots with the PC 28/3.5 at f/11 stitched

Hi Kevin,
Yes, it is lightning. Tantalizingly close but the storm scooted left to right as you see the picture and that was the only bolt I managed to catch at all. But I liked the supposition of starts and storm. This year has been rubbish for storms though, ever since I got the 'new' MF lenses they stopped coming overhead.
The 28mm is soft at infinity, but I love the colour rendition on it for sky shots.
