Americo,

These are sharp images. Do you like the outcome? I have to admit that your previous handheld images weren't sharp. I always thought that I didn't see something that you wanted to show.

I have been practicing harder lately, and until the tripod comes my way, I hope to show much easier on the eye's photo's! I failed to mention that I just bought that tripod, and I am awaiting its landing! Sorry for the confusing, my writing skills, like my photography, are atrocious! I still have loads to learn, including the ability to know when i am properly exposed! For the most part, I shoot RAW exclusively, im case I can save it in LR4!

Americo, have a look at Serge Ramelli's Lightroom 4 tutorials on Youtube - lots of great tips of how to process images. As long as you get the exposure within the general range of what is usable, you can do whatever you want with it in Lightroom. I learned a lot from his videos, and I thought I knew Photoshop well, having used it since 1990...

Looks like a pretty great tripod Americo and from the prices I am seeing a real steal at $250.00 A little on the heavy side for carrying about but great for a studio setting. Are you practicing your strobist skills? I have noticed a few photos of Emily. A good place to go for some tips in lighting go to http://www.flickr.com/groups/strobist/
Good luck as this is not the easiest type of photography but maybe the most rewarding
Would love to see some photos of your area of the world.

Thanks for the suggestion! I do visit that area once in awhile, I followed it from strobist.com, however, as it may be known, I barely absorbed the mass information, and here are the results! I used to own a few strobes, One Alienbee's B800, an Nikon SB-28, plus one Vivitar 285HV, and including an Elinchrom with a 20 inch beauty dish, and a something sized elinchrom softbox, but I gave up, and sold them! I didn't go the buy stuff route, to not learn, I just wanted to accumulate the proper equipment in case I took the work as a photog field, of course that idea just floundered since I'd rather learn for private use, rather than attempt something I would be depended on, not that I wouldn't try! well, ok, thanks for the information, and hopefully I will come up with a semi great photo to share, and, well, show off!! Happy photography! -Americo.rodriguez 10/02/1976

Not much to say. I see him downtown every now and then waiting for a ride or something and he lets me take his picture.

Ahh, I see, I missed the whole set, so in my mind a person of Romani heritage came to mind! Thanks for sharing! Cool shot!

Someone offered up a third party battery grip for the D7000 in the freebie thread. Right place at the right time and I got it. Oh man, it's exactly what I needed. My hands are quite large and get taxed holding the camera after a while. That is now a thing of the past. I am so excited.

Shooting a bit at church tomorrow. Hope to have some shots up soon. My home computer crashed, still rebuilding it. Up time of 5 years though, it did good.

Wow.....go away for 3 days and you fall waaaay behind in this thread. Too many pics to call out on, so copious use of the "like" feature has been used! Excellent work folks.

It would be madness to sell this lens. The capabilities of it are outstanding and in your hands produces extremely find work!

Chalk-browed Mockingbird with Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 AI-S EDIF by labecoaves, on Flickr

D600 + Nikkor 300mm f/4.5 AI-S EDIF handheld, ISO 200, f/8 at 1/400s; ~45% cropped.
In the flickr link you can look at the large version (righ click on the image, then select large or original).

Jose, I'm amazed at the number of different birds that find their way to your balcony. For a bird lover like you it must be very enjoyable.

Thanks Tom, one of the benefits of being at the market before the sun rises. I just wish I had time to walk around the city a bit.

The first of a few sets from Sanyuan Taoist Temple here in Shanghai. These were shot using the 24mm f/2.0 lens, easily the most used lens on my FM2. Neopan Acros 100 film is the ammunition loaded up.

No sunlight this morning so this leaf came in handy indoors. Three cheapo studio lights arrayed close around it. Used the 50 1.2 AIS on a tripod with newly replaced wireless remote. (exif is wrong, thought I had changed it from the 35mm). Don't look too closely at the background. Had to clone out lot of bright spots

1/80s, f/11 and ISO400.

Jose, superbly sharp bird with that 300mm!

Peter (Knysna), very nicely executed pano! That's a deck with a view

Tom, nice continuing series on temples!

Leighton/Tom2, your recent 50mm 1.2 pics inspired me to retrieve mine this morning after quite a while.

A little slow this Sunday here?
