That's funny Rafael... when I was running around with a group guys driving Corvettes, we bought an Owens cabin cruiser on a large lake west of Minneapolis. We had a few summers of rather serious partying on the boat. Two of those friends moved on to much larger Chris Craft cruisers in later years, one of them moving to Fort Lauderdale so he could be on the water all year round. But alas, partying hard is no longer on the agenda for me... I'll just keep driving my Acura and taking photos of flowers...

Thank you Jose and leighton. I tried my photo in B&W but my skills just are not up to the ones posted here in this forum. Maybe you can send me your recipe Leighton

This works Ray. I really have no recipe, just put the raw file in LR and have a go at it. But I know sitting in front of the computer processing images isn't for everyone. However, I enjoy this as much (if not more) as the process of taken the image. Seeing what can be done with those beautiful D600 raw files always amaze me.

Peter and Georg are entertaining us with their distinctive creativity. I really enjoy 8mm fisheye shots, though I think I'm be more inclined to take your approach Peter rather than spending two thousand dollars on that lens. It is simply too specialized for my taste. And Georg, I've always been a fan of Anton's work with the 45 PC-E, largely because of the amazing way it creates bokeh. You're little experiment catches the flavor of that work. I like a great deal. I assume the stitching was vertical since the images were in landscape format. Very intriguing...

+1 I agree, they're showing us some amazing work.

George - There was a shot taken at this years Kentucky Derby with a shift lens that was simply wonderful. I believe it's the second image in this link. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/51831440/displaymode/1247?beginSlide=1

I really appreciate the offer, but I'm one of those guys who hates to borrow things with the fear of breaking them. Plus, I'm in love with the 1.4's bokeh!

Ben, ^love them all ;-)

Fantastic work, I could be wrong, but my Nikkor-H 85/1.8 seems to deliver less contrasty nightscapes.
I hope you don't wanna let Nikki go (I don't understand the "last of nikki pics"-sentence).

After all the talk about 85mm lenses I had to mount Nikki's older sibling when I took an afternoon constitutional. I have a cold, a runny nose and sinus headache. About all I could do was put one foot in front of the other. Having my camera along made it doable.

I have a hood on the lens which doubtless helps manage the bright light. The lens is a pleasure to hold and use. I doubt I'd pay for an H.C. since this lens works so well but maybe the universe will bring one my way and I'll take the plunge.

Curtis, I really like the last image of your flower-set. A bit of foreground-blur adds a lot of depth to a scene - you did a wonderful job!

Curtis, Leighton and Rafael - thanks for your comments!

Curtis, the PC 85/2.8D is (together with the incredible 16/3.5) my favorite MF-Nikkor. I still have to explore it's full potential, one of the reasons why I try to use it as much as possible.
I've shot some more "work-stuff" with it today, will post a picture or two this evening.
A PC-E 45/2.8 would see even more use - 85mm is a tad long for some shots.

edit: Leighton, thanks for sharing the link - yes, the "derby hats overview shot" looks like taken with a 24mm-tilt-lens.

Did you see the one with the horses rounding the turn and shot real low?

I am amazed at the quality of work lately. Everyone seems inspired by others to try something new

First one is the 28-50's macro mode It works rather well letting you focus closer at 50mm

Yay, I'm off work and will be heading to South Australia this Friday. I've been waiting for the longest time! Haven't had a break in almost a year (sorry Leighton). Packing my gear now and it feels soooo heavy. Tempted to leave the 45PCE at home but what can I say, my allegiance is with this thread

That's a classic tilt-shift shot and i LOVE IT! I don't know quite what it is about these shots but they seem to have at once a hyper-reality and a sense of fantasy as though the world is somehow melting away. Every time Anton posts one of those shots I swoon. Chin has played with the lens as well and no doubt the influence of Anton is beginning to come through.

PS - I see you're off traveling with the 45 PC-E Chin... I'm very happy about that... Have fun and take lots of photos.

Absolutely delicious Ben. You're doing both Sydney and Nikki proud with these shots. I appreciate that you are wrapping up your contribution to the blog before Leighton closes down business, but surely we'll see more of Nikki in the future as you from time to time mount it. It is surely one of the benefits of the adventure just completed that so many of us have deep affection for the lens now back in your hands. We know what she feels like in our hands and appreciate how beautifully crafted she is. What a wonderful thing you did in allowing us all to have this experience. Thanks Ben.

Hi gang, catching up after being away for several days.

Thanks Chuong, Jose and Georg for the kind comments on the b&w seascape.

Laura, congrats on your gaudy GPA. Love the shot of the Pratt and Whitney logo.

Jorge, great work with the 50/1.2.

Philippe, beautiful vacation photos. The sister shots are very fine.

Ben, I really like the Nikki stitches.

Curtis, beautiful flowers with the 35/1.4. The perspective has a nice, natural feel to it. The car show series is terrific!

Ray, love the bird and the Caladiums.

Ronny, wonderful hand held bee shots. There was "Cool Hand Luke." Now we have "Steady Hand Ronny."

Jose, congrats on your collection! Gorgeous Great Kiskadee.

Georg, beautiful "tiny leaves" with the 20/3.5 and I love the green stools in "Coaching Zone."

Mihai, best of luck with your hip surgery!

Rafael, wonderful cruising shots with the 18/3.5.

Dean, great work with the 50/1.2.

Peter, I really liked your shots from Mt. Whitney, and the strobe work is excellent.

Chuong, lovely wren with the 300/2.8.

Philip, love the look of "Aunties and Uncles."

John, it looked like the guy at your yard sale was thinking "ok, where are all the MF Nikkors I've been hearing about?"

Samy, very nice shots from Baltimore. The pumping station is a great subject.

Leighton, love the strawberry bokeh.

Scott, beautiful shots from Letchworth Park.

Alan, wonderful shot of your little one.

Kevin, terrific mothers day portrait.

Reagan, nice ones, especially that 1st shot. I like the subtle fade in the OOF areas.

Chin, have a great trip. Looking forward to seeing some shots with your 45 PCE.

Thank you everyone for the comments on the Letchworth series.

Jose, I like the berry image with the 50 f/2 HC. Nice colors and OOF areas.

Curtis, the latest flower/roses series is very nice.

Peter, the Nikon lens taking a plunge was eye opening! Very nice captures.

Ben, wonderful harbor series with Nikki. Great colors. Don't let her collect dust.

Glad you took the 28-50 out for a stroll. This shot is why I liked this and the 50-135mm, the color and contrast output.
