Right now I do have two other MF lenses - a 28/3.5 K that I converted to AI with a factory Nikon aperture ring (thank you Koh's Camera), and a 135/3.5 K also factory converted to AI (Koh's). I'll see about adding more (300/4.5?) in the future.

Randy, if you know about Koh's Camera and their AI conversion kits you BELONG on this thread! What took you so long?

Ray who posted above got the last AI conversion kit Kohs had to fit the 16 f/3.5 he'd picked up. Sad that so few of those kits remain. I'm not inclined to be cutting aperture rings and fortunately have always been able to find converted lenses when shopping for pre-AI versions.

I like it Ron. After seeing the photos that Peter directed us to, I'm going to have to look a bit more seriously at converting some flower shots to black and white. More possibilities to play...

Kevin, I selling to finance some AF gear, considering a couple Nikon lenses and I also need to offset a portion of a new M4/3 system (wanted something lighter for an upcoming trip) It's a bit difficult for me to sell the 85/1.4 and 50/1.2 though....I'm sure at some point I'll pick up another 50/1.2.

Curtis your photo of the chessmen was beautiful. It brought back a lot of memories for me. My mother bought me a chess set very similar to yours when I was 10 years old. I was a bit of a child prodigy in the game having been taught to play by one of my elementary school teachers. He had been a state chess champion from the state of California. For one recess everyday we would play. Finally near the end of the school year I was able to win one game. At the age of 11 and 12, I won the city of Middletown Ohio city wide chess championship for ages 16-25. Sadly afterwards we moved away and I had no one to play. Soon I lost interest, but it is a fond memory. I just realized that this set is 50 years old
I still have that chess set. Your photo prompted me to get mine out of the closet and snap a photo using the 35mm 1.4

Ray and Ronny, thanks for commenting.

Bert, what a spetacular macro of the fly + flower with the humble 135/3.5 + tube;

Ray, magnificent pano with 16/3.5, almost HDR-like;

Curtis, loved the beautiful chest set;

Peter, excellent captures of the Bar Throated Apalis;

Ronny, you continue to perfect (if that is possible!!) your art of flower photos with tubes!

Continuing the frugivorous birds series, this time with the 800/5.6 wide open, the acrobatic Sayaca Tanager:

Sayaca Tanager feeding on fruits by labecoaves, on Flickr

D7000 + Nikkor 800mm f/5.6 ais ED + tripod, ISO 1600, f/5.6 at 1/80s, ~40% cropped. Conditions were of poor light, so I needed high ISO and a wide open lens.
Exif showing a 400mm is wrong, because I forgot to change the lens on the non-CPU menu of the camera.
Too bad the 800/5.6 is one of those lenses that need "heavy surgery" to implant a CPU chip.

Thanks to all who commented on my Mercedes car series images posted here http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/929565/2964#11638185

This series was shot at the Louwman Museum (owned by a wealthy private car collector) in Den Haag/Holland. These cars were part of a unique exhibition of very rare and priceless pre-WWII Mercedes race and record cars.

When I visited the exhibition it was quite crowded, I had to wait, watch and shoot for about 2,5 hours till the end of opening hours to find opportunities to shoot the cars without people in sight. Iso values of up to 3.200 were necessary. No problem with the D700's sensor and the excellent noise reduction in Lightroom 4.

The whole series of images (including images shot with my favorite lens, the 105mm f2 DC) can be viewed here http://www.flickr.com/photos/lucdeschepper/sets/72157632140971686/

We are truly blessed with so many fine photographers sharing such wonderful photos. That we're doing all of this work with old lenses inspires as well. We've got a good thing going here. I'm proud to have my name on the thread.

Luc, nice one of the rail. Speaking of the 50/1.2, here's a little bokeh play with that lens at 1.2.

Jose, love the whole frugivorous birds series, the last one is another stellar shot! Your moon-images are nothing short of spectacular, wow!

Curtis, I like your recent B&W's a lot: the flower works very well "reduced" to grey-tones.

Ronny, as usual: thanks for sharing your fine art from Sweden!

Randy, welcome! Your D50 delivers some wonderful colours.

Peter from Knsyna, wonderful bird-portraits! Tricking the birdie with an iPhone is a a great idea ;-)

Samy, love the red-nosed Mustang! The street-performer is very nicely captured too!

Bert, what a beautiful set! Love the sunset and the carpenter-shot!

Leighton, the lock is a classic B&W-subject, love it!

Philippe, the WW1-veteran-homage images are touching. I like especially the second picture a lot for it's multi-dimensional look.

Chin, sorry for this rather general remark: I like your shooting style a lot.

Roland, your glacier-images are very well done, my personal favs are #1 (stellar shot!) and the B&W.

Laura, another very nice set from the air show! I like especially the F86-image.

Rafael, love the steam-tractor-pictures!

Ron, nice shots of the turtle!

AND: Thanks for your kind comments on the charcoal-burner!
