+1 Ronny, what I really love about your flower-shots is the incredible light. Together with the carefully chosen backgrounds and the shallow DoF the blossoms really stand out.

Scott, does that come with a sherpa?

Congrats Laura, well done!

Peter, great work in the Alabama Hills.

Curtis, beautiful flowers with the 200mm.

Georg, love the Swedish barn.

Reagan, great shot of the "look" in the sea of caps and gowns.

Thanks Philippe, I really like the composition and fine detail of Ménerbes.

Rafael, great idea! When I get my eye related restrictions lifted I'd love to get together for a little shooting. I'll send you a PM when the coast is clear. PS: the "ugly" ground cover flowers look mighty nice through your 200mm and PN11 and the evening shot of the Buick is superb.

Ray, beautiful flowers, especially the last one with the subtle rays of sunlight.

Ben, really like the Nikki set. Wonderful colors and composition.

Roberto, I enjoyed the photos and story of your tree.

Ron, great looking dogs!

John, beautiful early morning shot.

Thanks Ronny. Spectacular flowers with the 135mm!

Rafael, great shots of downtown Escondido! The 55 is no slouch.

Ben, great processing on the nikki set.

Peter, your landscapes are great... really enjoy the two moody mountain shots in the middle of your set.

Margot stopping by to say hello. This is a dress her mother owned at a similar age (Margot will be 8 months old on the middle of May), and kept for just such an occasion. The 28mm f/2.8 AI-s works well here, at f/2.8.

Rafael, the batman one and the antique cars are terrific, and I like the green light on the wall in the last one. Panorama attempts create out of memory messages in my laptop, someday I will upgrade it, until then I will just enjoy the ones created by folks here And what's with the balancing act of the two stacked 180 2.8s on an unstable surface?? Made me cringe

Ray (FL), really like the flower images, especially the first one! What lens is that, the 85 1.4 or am I way off? Trying to guess from the bokeh.

Ben, the Nikki pics are all very nice, I most liked the organic bakery and the one with the multiple legs in the store window.

Philippe, what do Frenchmen do to visiting Aussies, that guy looks a little down

Roberto, very impressive redwood pics, the second one with the 35PC looks very imposing. And great to have another 500 F4 P user on the thread!

Ron, looks like quite an adorable moment with Cooper and the puppies

John, the snow covered mountain in the background against the blue water and ferry is a very nice composition.

Ronny, outstanding flowers and light with that 135 f2 + tubes combo!

Georg, great b&w from a few years ago, I am sure Leighton will approve when he gets time to comment on here.

Peter (WI), more nice images from your CA trip. The second to last one is super, I like the clouds parelleling the snow topped mountain.

Reagan, great occasion as a parent!

Ray (OH), good colors with the 105 2.5. I just tried one of the focusing rings of a 35 DX lying around, seemed like it had sand inside.

Thanks Samy and Jeff -

Here's one of my setup this morning with the 135/2 attached (though it's hard to see).
I've started using my 7.7" Samsung Tab for focusing and composition - for many things it's much easier to use, though for a few others it's more cumbersome. The main advantage is the large screen available for live view which is a help for my 47 year old eyes . . .

Thanks Jeff, Phillip, Samy Chuong.

Yes Chuong - I think they look like Phillippe's pics - that's my problem - I feel like I've lost my identity.

Curtis - send it back to YOU??? don't you think you've got enough pre-ai lenses??

There's nothing wrong with it - it's more to do with the D800E - you can get a lot out of that camera with the right lens. On the D800E I think the 85mm f1.4 ais is much better than nikki - the difference wasn't as marked on the D700. I've got the 85mm f1.4G too, and to me, it's very ordinary on that camera. The zeiss is good - but I son't think it's bringing out all there is in that sensor either - that's why I'm so keen on the new generation lenses.

Having said that - I like using nikki - I like the build - a lot (I've got almost as many pre-ai lenses as you).

But I like the try - LMAO - "send it back to me" !!!

Peter, I really like the framing of your last casino-shot.

Philippe, magnifique work from Lourmarin. Nice candid of the "tricky Aussie".

John, interesting set-up for the Live-View-operation. Can you operate the D800 completely from the tablet (except for manual focusing, of course)?
Regarding the early morning ferry run: this fine image/view would look pretty good too if captured through the 500/4P, right ?

Philip, now that's a portrait of Margot that should make all relatives and friends really happy. Lovely!

Samy, the Sonnar-type 105/2.5 is one lens I really would like to try.

Ron, very nice looking dogs!

Roberto, nice to hear/read from you! Interesing story about the Redwood, I like especially the second image for it's dynamic lines.

Ben, fantastic sets! Love the "500" and the "legs". No need to send the 85/1.8HC back to Curtis, we don't wanna interrupt his amazing run with the 200/4 QC ;-)

Ray, amazing flower-shots! The light is absolutely perfect on the first picture and I really like the framing of the second image.

Rafael, love the low-light car-shots, especially the Buick.

A double-portrait taken yesterday: a well established prayer-service for bikers will take place tomorrow in and around the church in the background. The guy on the bike is one of many helpers who makes this event happen.
A greater distance to the church would have worked better for this shot, but time and room were scarce.

Thanks Georg -

I think that 500/4P would have been a bit too tight for this shot.
What I needed was a really really good 200mm this morning, but I don't have one.

Here's another shot taken a bit earlier in the morning I believe . . .
