Hi Kevin, I like the third and fourth images in this series. Nice conversion in the third and I like how the white background sets off the flower in the fourth.
I am in flux with my kit right now. I am thinking of swapping some lenses around, selling most, buying a few. Here is my current kit:
Series E 28/2.8
Series E 50/1.8 x2
Nikkor 80-200/4.5 AI
Nikkor 35/2.8 Non-AI
Nikkor 50/1.4 Non-AI x2
I am thinking of only keeping the following:
Nikkor 35/2.8 Non-AI (going to convert it)
Nikkor 50/1.4 Non-AI (going to convert it)
Purchase Nikkor 50-135/3.5 and 28-50/3.5
What do you think? I need to lighten my kit a bit and some of my lenses I don't use enough to warrant keeping them with my small budget. I know a couple of you...Show more →
Tough choices Kevin. I have experience with both the 28-50 and the 50-135 zooms. They are both very nice. I especially like the 28-50 for its compact size, sharpness, and contrast. The 50-135 is equally as good (check out some of Leightons posts with it), but a little large for my hiking kit.
Whatever you decide, have fun.
Kevin, in my opinion you can't go wrong with either of the zooms you mention. Look for one in EX shape when it comes to the 50-135. It'll be hard to find one where the zoom/focus ring will be dampened properly, but it's not a deal breaker if it's not. They are both rated well by Bjorn and they work very well with each other. The thing I like the most about them is their color and contrast output. I'm not sure if you shoot jpeg or raw, but if raw, you'll have to do a little work in post to get the most out of them. They hold up VERY well to whatever you through at them in post.
