Another winner Ronny. I imagine for this kind of shooting you're doing zone focusing, perhaps setting your focus at the log your dog is jumping. I can't imagine anyone catching focus by following the dog. The image is wonderfully sharp with great color and contrast. This is what we've all come to expect from what is a great MF lens. That it is available for such a reasonable price is amazing. Nicely done.

When i shot that one I was thinking about you Georg. I knew this one was very much your kind of shot. Glad you like it.

Thanks Curtis
You are right regarding how I focus on these pictures ... Nitro has good speed when he jumps over.. without pre-focus it would have been impossible to set focus

This has to be reposted! Great to see Scott and family, and that explains why we haven't seen anything from upstate NY recently.

FANTASTIC! I love it. I've said before that it has been a delight every time I've met someone whom I've met on a photography website. Unfortunately, at least up until now that has only been three folks from this thread, Ray, Reagan and Zalmy who hasn't been around for quite some time. I met Rinie from my days on TrekEarth and through her met three former TE folks during our trip to Turkey. I hope I have the occasion to meet many more and a beer on your front porch definitely sounds like a wonderful thing. Way to go guys!

NOT good enough Ben. If Scott was willing, you certainly could be! :D

Leighton - not good enough?? It's the dead of winter here - I went out on the freelines and sat on the freezing concrete in my T shirt and shorts for that shot. Could hardly press the shutter with my hands shaking. And anyway - Scott didn't look too willing in that 16 mm shot ( but it was good to see him and his wife). Is that your favourite zoom on the table with the caps off while you're playing with Scott's lens?

Dean - 4 - 5 shots of vodka?? Phillippe - cognac?? I'd be paralytic. I'm a one pot screamer (is that an expression in the US) I've just had organic oats and barley for breakfast - that's more my speed - it's sunny, I'll go out and see what happens.

Curtis - no - your sly digs have not been wasted on me.... - I'm holding off.....for now.

Rafael - love the 105 comparisons.
Ronny - you're on fire with those tubes.

Ronny, those images of your dog jumping over the fence are always inspiring!! Curtis, agree with Georg, that bench is a great capture.

One more of the Cloisters mansion in Baltimore with the 35 1.4N. I could not back up any more for any of the shots. Need to do a retake with a 28, maybe even the 28PC.

And one with the 13.5 3.5Q + 52.5mm extension tube.

Samy, wow, what a cool shot of your cat: a full circle Love the B&W architecture-shot. The 28PC should work very well for this building.

Ronny, your work displayed here is really inspiring, thanks for sharing!

Leighton, very cool meeting at your market! I was already worried because Scott wasn't posting for a while.

Jose, the Gauss-105 seems to be the winner of this battle. The Micro is a bit "nervous" wide open - judging by the rendering of the background-owl. Thanks for sharing!

Chin, the "bees-shot" is another fine example of your typical style. I love it.

Jeff, thanks for kind words. Hats off to you for keeping track of all the fine posts here!

I love the cat shot too... great fun Samy. Love your 135mm shot as well.

I definitely was transfixed briefly with the 35 f/1.4N but the price as Jose said, was prohibitive and with the AI-s lens in my kit I hardly needed another fast lens at that length if I was going to have to spend a great deal of money. Where I have duplicated lenses at other focal lengths I've always been able to do so without breaking the bank.

Speaking of which... I've contributed to a thread in the Nikon forum on the price of the 50 f/1.2 AI-s and incidentally had one sitting on the table where my monitor stands. Your reference to the 35 N prompted me to pull out my AI-s lens. Then I pulled out the 28 f/2 AI-s. Since I'd already cleared the tansu I've used for photos of lenses, I thought this might be the time to give a bit of love to the AI and AI-s lenses in my kit. I've been so obsessed with pre-AI lenses that they've gotten very little attention. Here are two photos taken with the 55 f/1.2 S.C. AI'd of first, the six fast lenses, then seven slower lenses. Only the 135 f/2.8 is an AI lens. I still love them all...

These were the lenses that led me into my manual focus adventure. There are a few lenses missing, but so be it. I didn't include either the 180 f/2.8 AI-s or 105 f/2.5 AI-s which arrived quite early in my kit building. Another time perhaps.

Thank you, Ray! I've tried to get a more homogeneous look for this set and settled on the "Push +1.5"-preset in SEP (slightly modified for each shot). Somehow I've managed again to over-sharpen the images in the down-scaling for web-process :-(

Have just managed to keep up on the reading, fantastic conversation as always, and high marks for the photographic contributions. What fun! Just thought I'd say hi, and leave a post so I can get back to here easily, and hopefully not be too long before another post for me.

Happy Fathers' Day to all the dads in the group!

Ray
