As usual just an amazing collection of images added so far this weekend. Curtis, after seeing that great shot of the bridge I am even more impatient for my 24mm to arrive.

Samy, the colours in that 85mm shot are amazing, great capture.

Love the focus stacked flower shot Jose and the comparisons of the two 200mm lenses, boy that QC lens sure looks beautiful.

Ben, that's some shelf for Nikki to be back on. Nice pics from the 24mm, I love especially the last one.

Leighton, good to see the market shots back, especially the young lady with the 28mm

Ray, that's some mansion and nice interior shots with the fisheye.

Thanks Mark, here's another one.

You think he liked having his picture taken?

I took nikki out but all the shots were crap. The streetscapes were "banal" and the candids looked like lame versions of something Phillippe would take.

I'm totally psyched out. I need more time - just going to leave it on the shelf for a while.

Peter, if you mount it on a D7000 the combo looks very sexy, believe me! And takes stunning images!

I'm sure the lens is perfect - all Rafael's lenses look amazing!

My comment was really a dig at the huge AF Nikkor Zooms that I sometimes see attached to these enormous cameras as if the shooter needs to prove his manhood

You guys are all too fast for me - you play one game of golf and get left behind!

Really good flower shots by Jose, Curtis and Samy

Awesome interiors Ray

Curtis those little league portraits are amazing

Jose - the more I look at Trajans Column the more I have to look. Just fantastic.

Leighton - magic market shots.

Samy - very good birds.

Apologies if I've left anyone out

Leighton love the market portraits. Is that a new B&W profile photo of yourself that I am seeing?

Interesting observation about the 24 2.8, George. I just haven't used it in months, may need to check it out more. I went back and looked at larger size photos of the tree with the two lenses. The corners/edges are just smears in the 20UD image (and that's after a bit of cropping at the edges). The 24 2.8 AIS image is sharp all the way across the frame (no cropping). Maybe a slight falloff at the very far edge of the image, but not much, still can make out distinct grass blades at the edges of the bottom corners.

Not

The 24mm 2.8AIS is much like the 28mm2.8 in quality and sharpness corner to corner, it just doesn't get the same respect
The flowers and the cardinal shots are very nice!
Thanks to all for the comments on the mansion photos

Thank you Rafael, Curtis, Samy, Mark and Peter.

Rafael, are you "devilishly" suggesting I must buy a Nikkor H or H.C 85mm f/1.8??

Curtis, I think the 85mm FOV and delivered perpective is just perfect for this job; supposedly a 50mm or shorter lens would result in visible distortions;

Samy, about Trajan's Column, imagine what a beauty it was when the painting was fresh and the metal arms & armour were in place during ancient times;

Ray, another great set with the 16/3.5; you too sometimes is "heretical" defishing 16/3.5 images like me

Leighton, nice portraits;

Samy, what a tiny DOF in the cardinal!

This is for Curtis:
A simple real word subject test for bokeh comparing one of the "queens of bokeh", the 105/2.5 P vs. the 200mm f/4 QC.

Bokeh test of Nikkors 105/2.5 P vs. 200/4 QC wide open by labecoaves, on Flickr

Nikkor-P 105mm f/2.5 (Sonnar) ai'd vs. Nikkor Q.C 200mm f/4 ai'd, both wide open
D600, ISO 200, no PP, straight from the camera - conversion at ViewNX 2.7 and resizing at CS5.
The 105 image was cropped to reach 200mm FOV.
As no PP was made, the pictures were taken at the same time (~10:57-11:02h) and sun light, and the D600 config was the same, colours differences (bluish 105, yellowish 200) are supposedly lens related.

I think this is not bad for a f/4 bokeh vs. the f/2.5 bokeh.

Jose, nicely done flowers with the diopter.

Ray, the interior of the mansion kinda reminds me of the Hearst Castle opulence from the west coast close to Curtis.

Ben, the Nikki portrait is just what the doctor ordered to complete the world circuit. The Pitt St mall shot is just outstanding, the PP is just right.

Leighton, it's good to see market shots again. My fav is Peg and friend.

Samy, thanks for the very clear presentation of edge sharpness between the 20 and 24.

Curtis, the 105 2.5 P is looking terrific on tubes, the background is just right softness and almost glow. Your secret sauce B+W portrait conversion is top notch as well!

Georg, your cnon and theater shot is the kind of thinking to illustrate a story that separates the men from the boys.

Kevin, how did you get the daddy long legs to stay that still? Regardless, well done. I really like the dandelion close up too. It's now on my must try list for summer.

In Autumn this tree is full of fruit and all the fruit eaters in our neighbourhood congregate to gorge themselves.

This was taken through the close kitchen window this afternoon.
