From my San Francisco excursion with family. Not sure what kind of plant these are, but they are quite beautiful.

Nikkor-Q 135mm f/2.8 wide open. This is BY FAR the hardest lens to focus with on my D7000. This was shot wide open. Usually I have to be at f/5.6 to get what I want in focus...

I see everyone is excited about spring. Will go out and find some flowers myself before they dry out in the Socal desert.

The 55mm 1.2 SC that Curtis ordered is finally here, it is in excellent condition, the focusing ring is a bit worn for my taste, but it is very honest wear, the rest of the lens body is quite good and the glass is perfect, as clean as any other lens I own. Therefore it is a keeper. I will be looking for a perfect 55mm 1.2 focusing ring, if you have one laying around. On the other hand this may become my most used lens.

The optical test came in with with flying colors, as good as any other 55mm I have.

This is the last Nikkor MF I will ever buy.

Have a look.

A test shot: at 1.2 of course

I've seen this little table in a dream before - it happens at a garage sale, and I offer $20 for the lot of them, but I always wake up before I find out if the seller accepts the offer.

John - Congrats on the 45, do you have plans to use this in landscapes?

Yes or for just when I want to carry it around in a more compact form than my 50/1.8G or 50/1.2 AIS will allow. It goes well with my CV 90/3.5 as a compact set of lenses with a ~2x focal length change.

I took some images last night that I'll post later on - just during a scrabble game with one of my girls.
It seems to be very very sharp at f/2.8 in the center. I also don't find it's smallness a problem when changing the aperture or focus as some others, with perhaps larger hands than I, seem to have.

John

Love the shot. Even though focus is off, the story is told well and the subject is looking at the camera.

Georg, I like Fifties that have character wide open and become sharp and contrasty as you close them down. The 55s certainly do that. So do other lenses. The differences are less (to me) than what I hear people say, even on the D800.

For reasons of enjoying old lenses, character wide open, metal focusing rings, long focusing throw, the most used will likely be the 5cm 2.0 S, (1959) and the 55 1.2 SC (1972), the 1.2 S and the ai are a little too perfect for daily commuting.

The 5.8cm has the best bokeh of all the Fifties, but I cannot mount it on an ai camera without removing the aperture ring, which is easy but its threads are greasy.

The 50 1.2, 1.4 and 1.8 have less character wide open although they are certainly outstanding closed down.

The best of all may be the 58mm 1.2 but this whole collection would not pay for half of one!

Rafael, you must be the ultimate Nikon man. Such an extensive collection of what look like near pristine lenses.

The only comment I have is "never say 'ever' "
