Thanks folks for the comments. Nikki's presence has definitely pushed photography to the top of my agenda for the last week. I've taken close to a thousand photos, over ninety percent with Nikki.

Looking at the weather forecast it appears Tuesday of next week promises sunny skies, so that will likely be one of my days in San Francisco. One day I'll drive in so I can wander about a bit. The second day I'll take a ferry in, then use local transportation to ramble through the city and focus on street photography. The ferry drops me off at the Ferry Terminal at the foot of Market and California Streets and not far from the Oakland-Bay bridge. I can grab a cable car on California and head into downtown. Should be fun...

In the meantime, here are some random shots taken last week that didn't make it to this thread until now...

This is Bolinas Bay adjacent to Highway 1 that feeds into the Pacific Ocean. Audobon Canyon Ranch is about fifty yards down the road from where I took this shot.

This is Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. I live a long block from this road that begins at the edge of San Francisco Bay and meanders through Marin County all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This is about ten miles from where I live in Samuel P. Taylor State Park. I drive this road whenever heading to Point Reyes or the Vedanta Retreat Center.

Small redwood trees next to the road. Of course, the place to visit to see the big trees, that is if you're not prepared to head north on Highway 101 to the Land of the Giants, is Muir Woods. I may still get there but it will definitely be the middle of week.

Okay, reproducing this with a bit of background info...

sogglu by Zichar, on Flickr

From left...
The funny looking ship on three pillars is the Marina Bay Sands casino + hotels + restaurants + shopping and just about everything there is to be done, right at the base
Up top on the blimp is a sky garden and an infinity pool
Urban legend has it that the unique shape and architecture ensures the house always win; feng shui or which ever form of superstition/devilry you might attribute to
The lotus-like half-dome structure is the arts science museum

Moving right, the bunch of towers are the Marina Financial Centre, a mix of financial institutions and swanky high-end residential suites. But of course, where else would you expect private bankers to stay?

The central business district is on the right; the brightly-lit long and squat building in front is a hotel built in the colonial times as the general post office cum office building. One can take rides in small tugboats cruising the river from the pontoon in the foreground.

Thanks, Peter, Georg, Curtis and Jeff.

Georg, beautiful lighthouse shot; is the R72 performing like a red filter - sky darkened?

Chuong, liked the "purple haze";

Leighton, what a great 55/2.8 set, liked the most the "sign of spring";

Ben, loved the moon + building with 105/2.5 P.C;

Curtis, great sets with Nikki, loved Sue portrait and the yellow & pink flowers bokeh playing;

John, great nightscapes with comet and the usual great sunset+clouds;

Ronny, the cat portrait with 180/2.8 is gorgeous;

Jeff, jaw dropping "shadow hills" with a great B&W conversion;

Ray, great last set, liked the most the 24/2.8ais red flowers

Ray, I was infected by a variant of NMFAS - the scalloped virus mutant - so I bought (almost a steal) one 50/2 H and one 50/2 HC (hope they arrive next month); I will compare both and sell the "looser".

Scott - Thanks, Jed's too lazy to mind having his picture taken.

Ronny - I love your Nitro shots, focus is always spot on.

Jeff - Lovely image of the desert, it's someplace I've always wanted to visit.

Chin - Thanks, and thanks for the cityscape info. Looks like LOTS of money in that city.

Curtis - Love the last image in your set. I bet it's a really peaceful place to walk.

Ray - Outstanding set. That's a nice looking buck goat. Just don't turn your back on him!

Jose - Thank you. I love your bokeh play with the 50/2, especially the first one.

"Banal" or not, I love these. I especially like the first one because the moon is perfectly exposed and and so is the building. Very well done.

Thanks Leighton (and everyone). I was really impressed with how sharp the 105 rendered that moon. I've been using the zeiss 100MP lately so I thought I'd take the 105 out for a change. I guess I'd forgotten how good it was (not to take anything away from the Zeiss Curtis)

Jose - you gave up the 50 f2?

I see you're using "banal" too ....lol?

Don't start or you'll never get it out of your head. Ever since Phillippe said it - every time I raise the camera to take one of the usual pics I take I hear this voice in my head saying - nah, don't bother, it's banal.

That's how you can go weeks without taking a pic.

Leighton, what a great shot of kale! Makes me want to get some from the ,market for dinner!

Curtis, I've been to SF a couple of times but never got to Muir Woods. I would love to see your photos from there.

Dean, the second shot from the abandoned village (with the jacket) is superb.

Kevin, the "collector" in me that would love to say that I have a complete set of something sometimes contemplates getting the entire E series since it's affordable and easy to complete. OTOH, just sold my 100E, so maybe I'm less of a collector than I thought, and I have just about all the E series prime focal length already covered!

Ben, I confess I stole from you the word!

My 50/2 ai had a bent in the filter ring and as I already had the 50/1.8 ai, I sold the 50/2 ai in the end of the last year.
However, Curtis has woke up inside me the "scalloped NMFAS mutant virus", so I have bough the 50/2 HC Hopefully it will arrive within next 10 days.

Thanks
Great shot Jose and Ray .. lovely bokeh

Ray: I am considering a Nikkor 300 ED f4.5 .. how much difference between Ai and Ai-s
this I watched is probably Ai with serial number 203899
Is there any difference in terms of quality of the pictures and bokeh ?
understood that there are nine blades at Ai-s and f32? and only 7 blades and f22 on the AI ?
Major disadvantage?
I have to think.. do not really know what it costs .. are bidding on it ... but it seems to be in good condition
what do you pay for one in good condition in the U.S ?
