Well it snowed another 5 inches yesterday, I'm getting a little tired of Winter. It just makes chores a little harder. The Chickens definitely don't like snow, you have to go shovel a patio every time before they even come out to eat! All shot with the 28mm f2.8.

Brilliant stuff, Leighton.

The first and last shots are excellent !! I love the bokeh on the last one.

Peter, very nice lightning image. Impressive to say the least.

Curtis, are we forming a NMFAS Virginia Division?

Great work and banter everyone.

Not much to take images of right now. Waiting for spring. Took this photo the other day.

Caption: Goose on left says to goose on right, "So if were going to live around here we have just got to find some open water!" Taken with the 50 1.4 ais.

Frankly, I'm amazed that so much of the country is still struggling with winter weather. I recall the old adage from my time in Minnesota, "If March comes in like a lion it goes out like a lamb. If it comes in like a lamb it goes out like lion." I've been seeing nothing but lions here...

Sorry to do this to you but you know who I am and how I like to shoot. The fact the Nikki is here will surely inspire me to head out to places not ordinarily on my agenda, but it won't stop me from the usual walk around the neighborhood looking for.... flowers... And it IS spring in California, so I found them...

That's crazy sharp Rafael. Was that moon shot wide open? I stacked two tc-200's and a tc-14b with my 300mm f2.8 and it was not sharp enough for me wide open.

You're right, of course, Peter. In fact, I've tried it on a couple of occasions but haven't been happy with the result. I'll likely use that technique when I take the lens to San Francisco. At the moment I'm trying to catch my breath. I've shot close to 800 images with Nikki over the last five days and need a break!

800 images - the thought takes my breath away! Wow!

With the TCs wide open may not work. If my memory works it was f/8 on the lens, focused with live view, asa 800, 1/15 sec, shutter delay and cable release.

Curtis, Leighton, Ray, Mark, Ronny, Laura, Dean, Scott, Rafael - thanks very much for the kind comments.

Curtis - the California pics just get better and, as always, the flowers are stunning.

Leighton - you certainly have become a master of snow images and must be really looking forward to next winter Please get it to stop by Sept 1 as we'll be visiting my son and his family in PA for about 12 days.

Scott - I'll never forget an early Disney nature movie which showed ducks and geese landing on a frozen pond. A bit like my snow driving!! Nice photo.

Laura - really vivid colours. Love the photos. Do you have any special settings in this shooting bvank?

Mark - I hope your eye gets better soon. It's no fun at all being a pirate.

Rafael - that's a scary lens stack. Jose, treat it as a challenge!!

Thanks all for the nice comments on the snow pics!

Scott - I like the starkness of your Geese image. It looks colder where you are...yuck.

Laura - The first one made me chuckle, thanks.

Curtis - Don't apologize for these wonderful Spring images, at least some on here can enjoy the warmth! Plus, I like seeing them, they remind me of things to come.

Rafael - That moon shot is one of the best I've ever seen.

Thanks Peter, no special settings, I stopped using the custom profile I had, and went back to standard, and then opened this in CaptureNX 2.

Color Noise Reduction set to Better,

Contrast 10

and then the D3 setting of Adjustments for the final touch.

Corel Photopaint to resample to 1000 longest side, sharpen and unsharp mask, watermark, and done.

All good things come in their own time Glad I could make you chuckle in the morning. My husband had that on his desk for quite a while, for some reason he could never keep it full.

Funny conversation. I will just help you guys to disseminate a little more NMFAS
Rafael have strong points to the 400/3.5 + TCs (I suppose a moded TC20EIII will performs even better than the already exceptional results with TC301).
But Curtis have also suggested a 800/5.6, and I am highly suspect about this lens which accepts very well all teleconverters.
John, think that you could reach easily 1600mm with the 800/5.6

I did as well, with a day trip taking Nikki along the coast on Highway 1. This was shot with the 24 f/2.8 N.C. AI'd, which is one sweet little lens.

We're looking north toward Stinson Beach with Bolinas above the cliffs on the left.

Gorgeous landscape Curtis. What are your general impressions of the scalloped 24/2.8 NC vs. the ais 24/2.8?
