Welcome back!
Nothing special
Oh yes, for your standards, but for me it is a great capture!

Ok, I have reached the extreme of boredom. So much so, I have stooped to taking shots of my boot! I did manage to hobble out to the propagation greenhouses to take a few snaps of crops Barbara has started. it's always nice to go in there this time of year to get a green fix.

BTW Reagan, these were all with nice 28mm f2.8 AI-s you sold me, thanks again.

Really like this one with your new 28 2.8. Also glad to hear your are on the mend. Thank you for sparing us numerous shots of your boot, lampshades, TV screen, and anything else within visual range of your chair.

Hi Philippe. Welcome back. Nice b&w! This guy does look like he could be taking a nap. The piece of art on the easel says "no print". Is he only selling the original?

So on a day when Peter, Philippe, Jose, Ben and Georg are all stopping by it is a great day... add the new participants like Dave and Kevin as well as a few usual suspects and we keep moving this thread along. All good with fine conversation and some excellent photographs... the perfect mix, at least for me.

Here is another with the 80-200 f/4.5 AI with a PK-13 attached, shot wide open, hand held. It works...

As an aside I'm listening to Glann Gould at the moment as he plays the Goldberg Variations by Bach. I've been rather mesmerized of late by Bach's Cello Suites and am revisiting some old favorites, made possible with ease by YouTube. I own the CD but have not seen this video of Glenn Gould performing, though I have to say I'd rather listen than watch him leaning over the keyboard.

That was with the 135 f/2.8 AI that got VERY little use on that trip and didn't make a subsequent trip. Of course, I discovered it is an excellent lens with tubes and put it to use that way.

I'll post the windmills shot for those newcomers who weren't around back then... two and a half years ago... amazing we've been at this so long...

Rain started to fall only moments after this was shot.

Very nice Curtis. Good to see this again. Where is our friend Renie?

Some love for a lens that doesn't get much use from me, the 75-150mm Series E. A versatile range of focal lengths covered but a couple of peculiarities the stop it becoming a firm favorite like the vignetting on the FX sensor and the zoom creep I haven't quite eliminated yet.
However I think it gives a very nice colour rendition and can make some very pleasing images.

Mark, I like your work with the 75-150. I had one of these and parted with it. I now have the 50-135. They are both nice and both (in my case) had/have zoom creep. How are you trying to stop your zoom creep?

Thanks Samy, Scott, Philippe and Georg.

Wow Curtis, another great tube work with the 80-200/4.5!

Today I was busy "testing" some MF Nikkors on my new D600, but managed to edit some from Pompeii.

Pompeii's Large Theatre with Nikkor 16mm f/3.5

Pompeii's Large Theatre with Nikkor 16mm f/3.5 by labecoaves, on Flickr

D7000 + 16mm f/3.5 F ai'd hand held, ISO 200, f/5.6 at 1/1250s.
4 vertical shots pano. A FX camera probably would need just 2 shots.
The theatre was built in the 2nd century B.C. and could accommodate ~ 5,000 people seated.

No flowers or sun here. Just another cloudy winter day. Tried something different. This is quite abstract. What do you think? Better yet, what do you see? Taken with the 50 1.4 ais at f2.8, at minimum focus distance. Thanks for looking.

I had a long Skype conversation with her this afternoon. She has been very busy at work as well as immersed in her choral music. She is part of a large chorus in Rotterdam as well as a chamber choir drawn from the chorus. They do some adventurous music and it demands a fair amount of study to prepare. I expect we'll see her again at some point.

I love the image Scott. I'd guess this is frost as it appears on a window. I grew up in Minnesota and have a great deal of experience with frost and ice on storm window panes. I can't say I miss it at all...

This image feels a bit abstract as well, shot with the 80-200 and tubes.

And even Monty drops by. Glad you kept the 16 f/3.5 so we could see your shadow and what appears to be snow on the ground. I guess the first week in March doesn't qualify as spring in your neck of the woods...

Nice to see you Monty.

Thanks Jose... it has a bit of a watercolor feel that elevates a rather ordinary photo.

I'm loving your Italy photos Jose. As much as I'd like to experience Asia I think if I take another trip internationally Italy may be a better bet. I love Italy and spending autumn in Europe would be quite a bit easier than heading to Cambodia. Your photos definitely get me thinking. I have spent five days in Rome but have not visited other parts of the south. Decisions, decisions...

Today is the 7th anniversary of my D200's arrival, so I looked for my first MF shots to post. Didn't take me long—I broke out the 135/2 the next day and tested a few of Zoe in her favorite keep-an-eye-on-the-humans spot, which gets nice light in the afternoon.

This shot looks oddly familiar, and might to you too.

Not much changes around here!
