You should get shots of the offbeat stuff! Steampunk would be so cool.

Thanks for the advice.
Yes, the Watch City. Of course the watch factory isn't there now. OTOH they (or someone) holds a Steampunk festival every year in honor of the watch heritage. It would be a good day to carry a camera around town.
I should take some pics of the offbeat stuff. There is an old sign two stories up on the side of one of the buildings that says "Gilberto Rivera, Investigative Services", with a 7-digit phone number, no area code. Straight out of Raymond Chandler. There is one park at an intersections named Chemistry Park, a.k.a. Chemistry Square. During the American Civil War it was site of a factory making components for gunpowder. The locals called it Chemistry Square because of the smell. Now the name is a fun historical curiosity....Show more →
No complaints yet, they are pretty tolerant. The occasional ice jam in the river nearby will flood this place, and so far everyone's seems here to stay.

Glen, that is some wicked processing, vivid colors.
Ventimiglia, Italy historical hill top section, it was very quiet with hardly a mouse to be seen. The modern lower section was far more active with many shops and restaurants.

I haven't posted in a long time for 2 reasons. I've been unable to shoot much due to the spinal degeneration issue. Finally there is some improvement, but I'm still quite limited. The second reason is that I've had trouble trying to post on the few occasions when I have done some photography. Several years ago when trying to renew my Fred Miranda membership, the website refused to accept my credit card, the same one I've used here for years. BTW, I carry no balance, so it's not over limit. No response from site administrator when I inquired about the problem. So I put images on Flickr and linked here. They started looking mushy, almost out of focus. I got so disgusted that I just stopped posting anything.
So these shots are a test more than anything else. All with 55/2.8 Micro on Df from a wooded park near my house.

Glad to hear you feeling somewhat better. These look sharp to me, but I know what you mean. I too have had issues in the past with how images looked when posting from Flickr. I assume you messaged Fred himself? It's unlike him not to respond.
Not digital. We found an unprocessed roll of film which had been sitting around since probably the mid-90's. Taken by my sweetie with the Nikkormat, 50mm f1.4 (manual-focus glass!). Our front yard before the local rabbits learned they could eat everything. Also a self-indulgent posting of a younger me. These are downsized from the scans the lab returned to us. The roll contained only 16 images and the last one was partial as if the film had broken. Maybe that explains why we never processed it.

Sorry to hear about the ongoing issues, Ken, but good to hear there is improvement. These shots remind me of the postings I've enjoyed from you, they don't look mushy at all.

Ken, Glad to see you feeling good enough to shoot some photos. They look fine on my monitor. My hosting photos problems disappeared when I got Fred's Buy & Sell (+hosting) membership.

Is that a Triumph Spitfire with American required bumpers/fenders?
Colin
Yes, 1980 Spitfire 1500, the last year they were made. I drove that car for 30 years. We made one camping trip to Acadia National Park and were approached by a Brit who had grown up in Coventry not far from the Triumph factory! Alas, that car is gone, sold along with its sibling a 1970 GT6+ (GT6 Mk2 in the UK) in 2018 to another local British car enthusiast.
We have been hiking in Acadia National Park, Mt. Desert Island, Maine. Two manual-focus-Nikon-glass pics from today. The autumn colors are early and a bit muted, more orange than red.
The early afternoon view northwest from the oxymoronically-named Valley Peak. Atlantic Ocean, entry to Somes Sound. A bit hazy and hot today.
