p.2468 #1 · Manual Focus Nikon Glass

Well, I had 20 minutes or so today to take a spin with the 135/2.8 AIS that showed up on my porch this afternoon. I also had the 400/5.6 ED AI (strange combination I know).

Here's a mix of the lenses from down on the beach front. Cold and windy.

Thanks John. Really nice shots in your posts. Great lighting on the tug and passing ferries and I like your treatment of Lady Liberty, especially with the crescent moon.

Back in Toronto, but somehow not managing to keep up with the thread now that I'm home either. Babies and thesis work are hectic!

From the last 20+ pages, a few standouts.

Ben, lots of fun with the 24 PCE. Philippe, you too.

Tony (DC), love love love the potomac pano!

John, what do you make of the CV? Are you now on the lookout for a 125mm f/2.5 too?

Also lovely borealis shots by mike, Ronny's dog makes or good portraiture, and cute sheep pictures from Leighton too.

Philip -

I'm liking the 90CV thus far - Compared to the 105/2.5 AIS it's light(er), focuses closer, smaller, and appears just as sharp if not a slight hair sharper at infinity. It's a whole lot sharper at minimum focusing distance. It's not, however, 105mm . . . nor f/2.5. So it's a compromise.

It may become my hiking/backpacking/climbing lens.

I just got the 135/2.8 AIS and a 135/3.5 AIS is on the way. Geez - I clean out a bunch of lenses and then I go and buy some more . . .

Keep taking pictures of the little ones - they grow up fast.

Welcome Gabriel. What a a great first post, with your impressions on some lenses and the D600. I am looking forward to your more detailed impressions on the D600 and shots with MF Nikkors; wondering why was your account blocked?!

John, lovely seagull moods and spetacular passing ferries colours/sharpness; congrats on your new lenses; please, when possible, let us know how is the 135/2.8 compared with the /3.5 version.

What's the impetus for all getting all the short teles?

As for kids, do they ever! 4month checkup was yesterday. Except for sleeping (which she seems to think is unnecessary for her), everything's going great (although not sleeping is a big issue.

).

Here she is as of a couple of weeks ago, along with her mom. 28 2.8 AI-s.

John - Love the set, I like the "Lady Liberty and Crescent Moon' The best. Good to see some of yours again.

Jeff - Beautiful looking sunsets, especially the second one. It would be interesting to shhot the same scene with the film and digital to compare.

Reagan - Just buy it! You know you want to!

Philip - Good to see you post again as well, I LOVE the "109OZ"! Before too long, your daughter will be graduating HS.
