Lens is clean and sharp, focus is on, front and rear elements are excellent. Filter is excellent.
The bokeh is beautiful. This lens is wonderful to shoot. I own or have had the Canon 85mm f/1.2, the Leica 35mm Summicron pre-ASPH, and the Nikon 50mm f/1.2 and I think this lens has better bokeh.
Mark II Version: Lens has the "MF" marking on the autofocus switch instead of just a single "M", which is indicated as one way to identify the second generation of this lens. The experts can weigh in on what this means.
Lens was just sent to Mr. Toshio Fujishima of TF Camera Repair for a check out in preparation for this sale and he said everything is working well and that it is a nice example of this lens. Mr. Fujishima's is one of the best independent Canon repair shops.

Hood has one shallow (<2mm) ding. Lens trunk has been used to protect the lens so it has dings and scuffs. Some small scuffs and paint chips on lens, the lens has been carefully used in the field, but used none the less which is a testament in my mind to how great this lens is. I would always pack it up and take it on jobs because there is no other lens like it.
I no longer shoot with, or own, the Canon system and since I can't adapt this for Nikon, I have it up here. This works extremely well with the 1.4X converter to give you a 280mm 2.8 equivalent.

best lens I own, would never sell it and if i could afford another I would get this one to have a spare around!
The second generation has a few very minor changes that are still nice to have
Including a slightly improved coating on the lens and the aperture blades are slightly more rounded.
Looks great. I tried picking up one of these just recently from a few different sellers but could not seem to make agreeable terms. Ended up gettting the newer 2.0 IS instead, it will be here tomorrow.
