Thanks, Frank, I appreciate that! No special secrets for the backgrounds. Same things everyone else tries to do: shoot wide open, get as close to the subject as possible (these are all uncropped), try to maximize subject-background distance (alter angles if needed), and avoid distracting elements like bright spots. Of those four images, the burrowing owl was shot with the SHG 300/2.8 and the rest with the 300/4 PRO.
