p.1 #17 · Canon Announces PowerShot S95 | |

I cannot agree with the comments concerning the LX5. I owned the LX3 and was horrified by how over hyped a camera it was. To be true, I did not expect it to replace my 5DII or 7D, but even with appropriately low small camera expectations it was a dog. Noisy. Cumbersome to use. Then I bought the S-90 deciding I would keep one and sell the other. Two days of using the S-90 sent the LX3 packing out the door. The S-90 is a wonderful package. I don't think the S-95 is worth the upgrade if you already own the S-90, but my goodness Canon did an excellent job. The handling of the S-90 blows away the Panasonic. The noise performance is better at all isos. Frankly even the lens is sharper.
So what can I surmise about the LX5? I have seen sample shots already that do not change my opinion of the disappointing LX3.
And I now carry my S-90 in my briefcase. It makes every trip.
Many ten's of thousand of people would disagree with your assessment of the LX3. We even had a thread in this forum with some stunning landscape images from the LX3.
One thing I've learned is never look at a manufacturers own sample images, they are usually pure shite. This is true for most manufacturers, especially Canon.
