Nice stuff Derek, Paul, mann_p..... too many to name them all

Well, usually your images are good.
These are very poor. Camera shake or motion blur all over, there's almost no in-focus areas, and the composition leaves something to be desired.
I know the lens is decent so...
What happened?

handheld macros in poor light. focus was less than a centimeter from the front element. there is a fair bit of motion blur (camera and subject), but i suspect the lens also wasn't designed to handle such a short focus distance. i was mostly curious to see how dof and angle of view looked with such a wide lens for macro. i don't think you can get anything other than abstracts at such a short focus distance.

Lol talk about tough audience

Ah... I see.
Nah, it's not like that. Go check his other work and you'll see.
But I do kinda wish the audience here were tougher! FM used to be like almost all pro level work with only a few such as myself, outside the gates of awesomeness. Now the vast majority or work being posted are weekender snapshots. Very saddening!
The future "Pro's" gotta start some where, may as well be here where the "Talent lives"
I like the color contrasts of the bridge and water and grass of the color version better.
But both are nice.
Yes detail is amazing. I could zoom in and read the bridge speed limit signs on my version.
4 frame stack, from Canon 5DMkII, Minolta Rokkor 58/1.2 and Kenko 12mm tube, of course at f1.2
Used Zerene stacker, while some halos goin' on, I kinda like it, still learnin', which is fun.
Of course, everytime I want to do macro play, it's windy, sigh, shrug...
This is a fast edit on a laptop, so, I'm uncertain how it's really gonna look.
I need to put in more time with this, in a correct environment, hopefully one day...
Anywho:
I haven't had as much opportunity to test it out as I'd like, but it's probably not too early to say I am a happy inductee into the cult of the 58/1.2, thanks to Derek's beautiful conversion to Alpha. I liked the lens well enough on the NEX-7, but the 90mm equivalent limited the way I used it. On the a900, it's like a whole new lens, on that will sit very comfortably between the Lux-R 35 and 100/2.8 for night shooting this season. I really like the way it handles lights from wide open to f/2.8. This one was on a dog-walk in the neighborhood at f/2. I think it came out pretty well given the fact that I had my dog's retractible leash under my left arm with her tugging away at the end (she has very little patience for my holding up the works for these dubious efforts). Never again will I doubt the power of SteadyShot.
I haven't posted a Rokkor image here since page 52 when I said I was waiting for a NEX in order to use my old Rokkors normally. I now have a NEX-5N and am enjoying my old Rokkors like never before.

glad to hear it's working out, will you be using the R 60mm macro at smaller apertures?

Nope. The 60 gets used to take pics of things I'm selling and lighting examples for a couple of local theater directors. Outside of that, the 35-70/4 had taken it's place, which is an excellent lens at the long end, but I doubt it will get used as much now. I've got few complaints about what I've seen from the 58 stopped down. Losing close focus is a little bit of a concern, but I've got a 7mm ring I carry around to use with the 90 and 100, so I'll try the 58 on that and see how it goes. I'm really happy with it wide open. Much happier than I've been with any other f/1.2 I've used. I'm sure I'll find some niggling complaints about it the more I use it, but right now, I am one satisfied shooter.
