Maybe so.But it looks very sharp !

Yeah, if I get the focus right this lens is almost too sharp. Like, I tried to add some sharpening to this image for example, but it didn't sharpen anything... only added halos... So I skipped it. I actually have a couple of lenses like that... I wonder if it's the sensor, lens, or subject that does this. I don't remember these lenses being that sharp on Kodachrome-25. Even my NIKKOR lenses seem sharper on the GH1 than they did on the D2H. Maybe just my eyes have improved?

i believe panasonic uses extremely weak AA filters. their 12mp sensors actually matched the resolving power of the 15mp canon if i recall correctly.

I see some obvious halos as it is now outlining the building. Doesn't the camera do in-camera sharpening or was this a processed RAW with zero sharpening?
Nice shot! Did you do something to get this reaction?
Paul, thank you! I actually snapped a shot of her before that when she looked at me...then I smiled to her and showed her the photo I took...
Rokkor seems to be a chick magnet..

It was processed RAW but the scaling I used for the final web sized output was "Best For Reduction" which sharpens ever so slightly. The lens itself... err, the lens and sensor combination... actually halos a tad under certain conditions tho. So it's the tightening of that halo you're seeing in the posted image. Unless I got my wires crossed somewhere... which is always possible. I'm pretty buzzed right now. Just got home from a DJ Farewell event which was a very wet event - in more ways than one actually. :P (I"ll post some images later maybe.)
Bif: you tease...I haven't been allowed out for about 4 months now...that and not having enough finances, since my lens didn't sell....
Would love to see your photos..
Really fantastic images here. From what I understand the 58/1.2 is the legendary one although the 50/1.4 images look very interesting as well. Can the 58/1.2 be adapted to EOS mount to reach infinity - without shaving the mirror? If not, what about the 50/1.4 or the 50/1.2?
This is my first post in this forum but I wanted to contribute to this thread because this forum was a huge part in me purchasing my Rokkor 58 1.2 recently. I also have to agree with wayne seltzer, cogitech's picture of his daughter is one of my favorites that I saw from this lens when I was researching. Anyways, here are a few shots I took with the 58 1.2 last weekend. Thanks to everyone in this forum for all the information you provided me about this great lens!
The two Baby shots are awesome too. Aren't babies just so cute? Hehe, little kid with his entire life in front of him... It sparks some wonderment!

So BIF, do you now have your eye out for a 58/1.2?
I could bring an extra along to Japan and send it from there, if you like.
You sure you want to sell it for the prices I pay for lenses? I almost never pay more than $10. So you'll send it over for like, $7.50 ?
Just before I went out yesterday I picked up an immaculate Canon 200mm f/4 for $10. I got the ROKKOR 55 1.8 for $2. All the lenses I posted in the moon thread cost me less than $20 and usually less than $15. So I'm probably not the customer you're looking for. On the other hand if you're going to be in Japan let's meet up for a beer or something. I can show you some cool places to shoot in Nagoya as well as some bargain lens shops if you're into it.

Cheers, just trying to learn to handle "the mustang"...
Post some more shots, will you? The street candids you posted were superb! Love the last one with the cat especially....
I'm pretty sure these are all wide open at f/1.8. A few were with a polarizing filter.

Oh, that's interesting. It makes feel good about the camera too. Thanks!
