Charlie - nice set! Looks like you are getting out a lot to the mountains.
Edwin - great to see you posting again. I really like B&Ws like the first one you posted. Nice subtle tones...

Hi everyone, it has been awhile but still enjoys the wonderful images on this thread that continues to confirm that Leica was the way to go. I have a few eclectic photos from around Southern California.

Very nice images guys!

I would use the ZM25 more often, but i misplaced my ZI VF, been using VC VF which has been ok. Wish the ZM21/4.5 performed better on digital, just use it on film, would have been ideal on this trip for a majority of the wide situations.

The ZM25 is apparently slightly longer than 25, so maybe more around 26mm... I'd just ditch the external finders and get used to shooting with the 28 frame lines and expect a bit more in the images. But that's just me.

The next 2 photos I put up to ask a question.
If you shoot with an Ultrawide, like a ZM25 and you left it coded as an Elmarit-M 90 (versus uncoded) does it do some sort of lens correction in Lightroom, even if you have in disabled in Lightroom? I tried using Elmar 24 correction in LR but it still seems a little off in the photo below; not as noticeable in the previous 3 photos due to subject matter, or maybe that's just normal barrel distortion with this lens?

In-camera corrections, from my understanding, are for vignetting and colour shift control. Therefore, if the camera is set for 90mm and you shoot with a 25, images will be somewhat incorrectly corrected into the corners, but it might not be such a big deal. You could fix it with Cornerfix or the Lightroom flat field plug-in by doing a reference shot with the incorrect camera/lens/coding combination.

Corrections in Lightroom are for lens distortion. If the camera has embedded the correct lens EXIF data through the correct lens coding, vignetting and colour shift corrections have already been applied and there would be no need for Lightroom to do additional correction for this.

The best way I can think of to fix the error, if it's noticeable, is as mentioned above with either Cornerfix or the Lightroom plug-in. Or just convert to B&W.

BTW, initially I read your comment as 90mm lens shot with 28mm profile, which I've done, and you end up with brighter than normal corners and some significant green/cyan corner shift due to the profile's overcorrection for a 90mm lens... But with a wide shot with a tele profile, chance are the image will be under corrected for vignetting and colour shift,

Great images all around!
In Stockholm now.. Kinda cold considering I'm use to Singapore weather. BTW if anyone here sees a guy walking around with two M240s feel free to say hello

I took some interesting shots in Copenhagen but I have come to the realisation that I'm a straight up 50mm guy.. I only brought my 35/75 combo, and I'm really hurting for a 50mm lens!

A few shots here and there, I would have liked the 21SEM, but a 50 would have been just perfect.

You bugger Charlie! I have always wanted to try that lens out but it is a bit pricey for how much I would use it. Can't wait to see your pics....

Salvador - you should have asked for my permission before you took a pic of my car.

Gary, next time you are driving through Beverly Hills in your $1.5 million car let me know, I'll take you to lunch.
If that was the car that hit me 4 years ago instead of an uninsured Honda, life would be different.

Edward & Ron, thanks for the expertise experience and input regarding the effects coding (or in my case miscoding) has on the in-camera's handling of the "raw" dng.

Ron, in most cases where I miscoded (or coding doesn't clean up the cast) I normally just leave it or use the lightroom plug-in when it's bad. But for the picture I posted, the "non straight" horizontal lines along the street curb and middle divider were bugging me. I wasn't sure if LR was doing something funky, like correction it does for some fuji lenses (as well as other brands) even when correction is turned off. After Edward's and your post, i decided to check google map and noticed there was a wide curb turn for the train, and slight curb turn on the left and the middle divider juts out toward me in middle. This is most likely the "distorted" horizontal lines i was seeing. Also, good point regarding the ZM25 focal length being closer to 26mm and just using the 28 FL of the M9. I started to do that by the end of the trip once i re-familiarized myself with what the lens was seeing.

Thanks again for the input Edward & Ron! Time saver!

Here are a couple more with the ZM25 + M9 walking up from the base of the mountain along the Historic Columbia River Highway, to the hiking point for Latourell Falls. The ZM21 or ZM18 would have been useful for this narrow 2-lane trek.

This is where the view from the VC VF was giving me trouble. I gave up after a few shots since I wanted to eat my sandwich.

Way too many pages to catch up on!! I have been using the like button, and there are many amazing shots here.

p982.
Gary, love the rendering and images with the Canon 50/1.4 LTM!
Adrian, very nice capture. I have seen this bokeh with the ZM 35/2 too.
Michael, wonderful muted beach scenes. Very nice compositions!
David, very cool action shot
Ron, imaginative compositions with the mesh on the beach! Great stuff.
Peter, fantastic set of images!!!
Katie, great pensive portrait!

p983.
Charlie, very nice with the ZM 18! One great lens.
Ron, wonderful starburst, and really nice graphic composition of colors!
David, very nice follow up shots.
Ceder, beautiful lighting!!
Katie, really nice stuff.
Mikael, thank you Nice set! I use to have some issues with the coding of the ZM 25 too, and usually the quick fix, in LR, is just use the graduated filter, and cool down the affected edge. This was documented in LUF, when a lot of issues first came up

p984.
Allen, nice play of DOF. Very nice set! Great street shot!!
Bijltje, excellent series with MM!
Neopan, nice shots! As I mentioned above, a quick fix is just using the cooler graduated filter in LR.
Charlie, excellent mountainscapes! Congrats on the 135 APO
Edwin, beautiful set!
Salvador, fascinating series! Love them
Michael, great shot!

p985.
Neopan, great combo ZM 25/M9
Sagar, congrats!!!

I recently acquired the 28 Elmarit R VII ROM, and had intended to use it mainly with the A7r. As it turned out, I think this lens is better suited for the M240 ! The R lens implementation on the M240 is very nice. Very easy to use MF. I am using the Novoflex adapter, and the lens comes up on the manual menu.

Shots from this afternoon with the 28 Elmarit R VII ROM and M240, at f/2.8

neopan - Nice images!
Charles - Nice, why did you get the elmarit-R version? You have the 28cron! Surprised, usually you stick with smaller setups!

Adam, thank you Yes, you are right, as I detest carrying anything too heavy or big. I needed to fill the 28mm FL, for the A7r, I found brand new, in effect, elmarit R version. I loved the 28 Cron on the M9, but I have never really gelled with in on the M240. Maybe I just need to spend some more time, and try some different presets.

I thought the elmarit-R would paint and render differently, and it has a MFD of 10". Bit like the 50 Nocti f/1.0 and the 50 Lux at the same f stop. The 50 Nocti f/1.0 is neither small or light
