I noticed a difference when I first received it, and I thought with PP'ing I could get the same results, but the files are different. Then the results came from DxO, suggesting a difference ISO performance and DR. Maybe Sony are not quite transparent here and the sensors are quite different.

Robert, hopefully the sensor is not fully gone, but just needs a few pixels to be remapped. Usually this only takes a day or two with software. The sensors are very prone to gamma ray, particularly when you travel by plane. After or during a number of trips, I had

Thanks, the camera works just fine and on low ISO's there is no problem at all. Only above ISO 640 there is a clear but very thin line in the shot.
The red dot is visible on the back screen but not on the computer.

So I just wait and see. Luckily I have the A7 now

Oh, if it's just a "dot" as in a stuck pixel, and the usual line, that can be easily remapped as Charles said. I thought it was a bigger dot

Your raw converter is automatically ignoring it, that's why it appears on the screen but not on the computer. Nothing serious, except your resolution is less one full line now.

Robert - sorry to hear about your sensor. Hopefully things get sorted out quickly and to your satisfaction.
Charles - nice pics. What type of fish do they typically catch from the beach?

Charles, Sorry to hear about your RX1R. My only concern was the color score in DXOmark is much lower than RX1 during discuss here in FM: 84vs79?(might not be an issue at all) But biggest reason is the hefty price difference at time of buying. I love my RX1 from tool point of view, and I feel this is the best combination at 35mm of lens, sensor and form now. Though, it is hard to get emotional attachment with her than pretty Leica family .

I did a short comparison of RX1 with 35FE and A7, I found at f2.8, 35FE at ‘extreme’ corner not as good as RX1 at f2. But center seems as good as or better than RX1. It took until f5.6 to have my 35FE to catch the extreme corner. Nevertheless, both lenses triumph my 35cron V1 almost all aperture and 35biogon before f4.
Both great beach shots, bring some good color in this BW page
Ron, Love your painting like process. They are awesome. As for long zoom, I highly recommend 80-200 Leica. If you look their published MTF, it almost as good as famous 70-180f2.8 Leica.

Edward, Asian usually appreciate younger one once getting older, I guess that is what you did from how you treat M9 and M240

Joe, love that monochrome shot looks and composition.

Charlie, The first portrait is great and thanks for your nice comments. You don’t need 50lux for the work I showed recently. Did I just save you $3500+

Allen, another nice light and shadow shot.

Gary, like your recent BW city shots. Glad to see everyone experiment different zone in photography.

Leonasj Nice portrait, I know you may prefer image untouched, but slightly PP to suit theme and vision might worth a try

Asiafish, the first one is great.

Now 50lux WO at raining night, Suzhou

Thank you everyone for the kind words and likes

Leonas, nice portrait.
Asiafish, very nice images, but the first shot has my eyes quivering as I move the screen!!

Michael, superb use of color!!! #1, p.909 is a beautiful balance of complementary colors, as it #2 on p.910. Those two images remind of the work of Steve McCurry.
Your RX1 images are superb, and if I still had mine, I would have kept it. Again, great use of color in p126, #1 in the RX1 thread. I don't pay too much attention to the DxO results, other than may be there is a validation that the sensors are different. The RX1, 35mm lens and sensor combo is probably the best there is... for now
Allen, great stuff!!

@ron TY for GAS support I think you are right. I love UWA for mountain landscapes, and of course I do have the fantastic ZM18, but it's not quite perfect without some serious PP for the colors-- more importantly it's well over 300 grams, so you really feel it. The Biogon 21 is very tempting, for it's value and it's speed, but what the 28 cron, the 90 summarit and Michael's beautiful work with the 50 lux have taught me is that the newer leica lenses really drink the colors. Add that to the comapct size of the 21 SEL, and I think I will shoot it alot.

As to the 135 issues, well as I said before the lack of a great compact 135 is inexplicable to me.

I love those flat light aspen shots very inspiring.

@joe great comp on the MM airport shot. I get cold just looking at it.
@Gary really excellent work with the architecture
@charles #1 on the beach outstanding!
@leonas sweet capture in the marsh
@michael you have really rich signature in many many of your shots. Umbrellas so good. Dock is great.
@airfrog excellent

Today incredible spring conditions

Hi guys, if these are to big I'll reduce them, I was on my desktop when I exported them, sorry.

Not really a comparison per say, but I had my A7 and 55FE yesterday, and today I had my M240 and 50APO, and it just happened that both days there was a cat lounging in the same spot, so I took the shots and decided to look at them. Now, not all things are equal, and one day I'll do some DIRECT comparisons for my own purposes (I think I have over 10 50mm lenses at least, although won't test them all). Anyway, yeah so not meant to be a comparison, I just wanted to mention that when I showed my wife, she said that the 55FE shot looked like she could reach out and touch the cat, but there was something magical about the 50APO shot, and if both were side by side she would gravitate towards the 50APO shot.. I told her she had expensive taste, to which she replied "duh, a glance at my shoe closet would have told you that"

On my big computer, my brightness is way down based on the calibrators settings, but I just viewed the images on the laptop (brightness is also a low, but not as low) and I think the images are slightly over exposed now, and out of camera was more correct? (Still having trouble with this calibration nonsense).

A7/55FE +.25 stop, nothing else done

M240/50APO +1 stop, nothing else done

Only visible when in high ISO but nevertheless still a bummer....

I contacted leica directly and they told me to sent the camera.

Did anyone had the same thing? How did it work out? Are there much costs involved? And what do they do to solve this?

At the same time I tried to sell my 35 cron asph, but damned those leica lenses. When someone made an offer I scared and decided to keep the lens... Strange thing it feels so hard to
...Show more

HAHAHA That's why I have a 50APO, 50Noct, 50Lux-asph... I only use the 50APO but I have the other 50s and a ton of other Leica lenses, but just can't seem to bring myself to sell them off. I think it's because every lens is so unique.. It's not just about focal length with Leica, it's about so much more.
