Question all,
Having a 28 now, do you think a 24 is too close similarly? whereas the 21 might be a better choice? I know some people have a set of lens with the 3 preferred focals (i.e. 28, 50, 90 or 21, 35, 90 etc…..)
I am aware the 28 and 24 are different focal lengths and there is a difference esp. for wide angles, but trying to make a choice here, so any advice would help
Thanks all for your past advice and thanks Charles for recommending the 21 SEM , your making me think to much
Phil
I have the same "problem". Having a 18 SEM and 28 cron and still having a 24mm finder from the 18mm on the M8 (18mm x 1,33) I to had the idea adding a 24mm.
The reason for me not to buy one yet is that I find 24mm to be to similar to 28mm. As I have 28mm, 35mm and 50mm now and thinking of selling the 35mm because they are all very close together. I don't see the point in adding a 24mm at this moment.
Further the 24 elmar (no intrest in 24 lux) is quite expensive for a lens which won't have that much use.
The cheaper 25mm ZM biogon is, for what I heard, more a 26mm lens and so very close to the 28mm focal length.
A plus for adding a 24mm. The elmar is quite a different lens than the 28 cron. The cron isn't perfect with its vignetting and busy bokeh but thats (imo) what makes it a very interesting lens.
The 24 elmar is almost as good as it gets. Great sharpness across the frame, almost no distortion, almost no vignetting ect.
That makes it a good addition to the 28 cron (I thought you had the cron?)
The 24 elmarit I think is more similar to the 28 cron (and 21 elmarit) and might not be that good an addition. The 21 elmarit might be a better choise instead.
So, no real awnser from me as I can't even decide for myself
