Leonasj, very nice shots. I especially like the old man's portrait.
Phil, beautiful work with the MM! Last set is really outstanding! Thanks for the comments by the way.
Gary, great colors in the stampede set.
Riakuma, nice moment, and the colors again look good.

Indeed. The global contrast is very low but micro contrast is over the top. Strange combination but the results are unique.

I think the contrast is spot on, unless you've added more in post? It looks very natural to me, very pleasing to the eye and not over the top but the pop is insane (in a good way of course )

I am glad to hear that. Sometimes our perception is influenced by other factors so it is good to hear other's opinions. I added no to very tiny little contrast in post, and in fact, I noticed that the Sonnar does not like adding contrast because doing that exagerates the high micro contrast. My comment about the low global contrast is in comparison to my other ZM lenses, but probably in the Leica world, the global contrast is just about right. The 3D pop is the best I have seen from any recent lens, and reminds me of my old Contax glass.

Wow, I'll echo that this thread sure has been moving along at a fast clip. Great to see so many compelling images! Gone through and 'liked' though for expediency might miss some in the comments below (apologies):

Ryan K: wow, congrats on the coming family addition! Wonderful images, too.
Gary: great Stampede sets.
Allen: congrats on the recognition and love the fence/gate image too.
Edward: Glad the 85 Sonnar is growing on you. It certainly appears to be a wonderful lens with interesting character - particularly thinking of the background rendering in the shot of the statue. Would be interesting to see it against the 90AA, as leonasj's images from that lens look great, very clean.
Phil: beautiful images. Love #2 in the set above. The single you just posted above also has a great feel.
rirakuma: congrats on the M240 and your results look good to me. Great use of the old Summarit above. Looks really well controlled here.
Ryan: love the police car set, particularly the leadoff image and its dramatic lighting.
Joakim: great sets, particularly the B&Ws, especially the window.

Just some picture-postcard sunsets from me from last night. Saw the clouds as the sun was going down and couldn't resist making a beeline from the grocery store parking lot down to the water.

Phil and Ron, thank you for your comments!

Phil, really nice shot with the perfect framing imho. I like the main subject centre position and the lot of info about the surrounding environment.

I would certainly recommend the Sonnar for b/w as so far my conversions from my M9 files all look good. I would even say the character of this lens is very suited to b/w. Good luck in finding one though, you can buy a brand new 90 AA for the same price or even less.

Ron, beautiful sunset series. Difficult to pick a favourite. As for the Sonnar, I believe the 90 AA is overall the better lens. The Sonnar has a little of veiling haze wide open that may look good in portraits, and any in-focus specular highlights will have a strong blue fringe (curiously slightly oof highlights have no blue fringing). From what I have seen online, I believe the Sonnar has a better bokeh than the 90 AA and a much more pronounced 3D pop, but these are subjective attributes, technically the 90 AA is faultless, though a bit boring.

Thanks Edward - no need to pick a favorite.

Yes, I remember the blue fringing. I guess I'd have to use the lens a lot to see how much that would bother me.

A bit more experimental set from the sunset, though I already posted a similar trial awhile back...

Wow! These are really amazing Ron. I do prefer the ones taken with the Nikkor because of the clear separation between in-focus and OOF areas.
