Andrew, those 75 Lux shots are great!
Airfrogusmc, you look like the people you photograph!
Charles, the photos of your god daughter just pop off the page. Especially like #2
Edward, #3 is great, the bright colours of the clothing contrast nicely against the rest of the scene.

Ryan, the middle penguin shot is superb! May I ask which lens did you use?

Thanks! All the animal shots are with the 90 AA.

Ryan, good set from the zoo. How do you like the 90 AA by the way?

I'm really just getting to know the 90 AA right now. I found it almost impossible to use without a viewfinder magnifier, even the 1.25 didn't seem to help me much. The 1.4x has made a really big difference and I'm using it on a daily basis to get my skill level up,

Ryan, thank you very much! I really love the 2nd shot. The backlighting, window frame and the child expression, a classic.

Allen and Joe, thank you very much
Edward, very nice shot with the ZM 85! Love the rendering with this lens. I would choose the ZM 85, almost over the 75 Lux... almost
Ryan, excellent examples of lighting! Very nice.

Charles, Allen, thank you very much for your nice comments!

Charles, there is no way the Tele-Tessar could compete with the Summilux, especially with 3 f/stops difference, and the typical Lux rendering. But for an f/4 lens, I think it draws very nice.

Ryan, both excellent shots. I think I need to give the 1.4x mag a try, looks like a better solution than the 1.25 for these longer FLs.

Charles, excellent!

Ron, Charles, Zhanyue.. thanks for the explanation on off center focusing on the M9, really helpful. A new guy in the office turns out owning an M9, I guess I will try his shortly to really find out what its like. A good thing is I can borrow his M9 for two whole weeks

sorry for the late reply, tough days at work.

I received the C-Sonnar quite late in the evening, so I only shot a couple of test shots. My first impression is that I don't like it so much Being used to the 50 Planar clinical look even wide open, it's difficult to adjust backwards. It's character reminds me of the ZE 50 Planar, but probably the ZM is a bit sharper and contrastier wide open. I will try to get along with the C-Sonnar and learn how to use its strengths in the next few days. By the way, it is calibrated for f/1.5.

Thank you Joe! I will shoot with the Sonnar exclusively for a while to learn as much as possible about it. Hopefully I can post something worthwhile.

Edward and Joe, thank you
Edward, very nice image! I would try a few portraits at f/1.5 at near MFD to 1.5, 2m and wonderful rendering will shine

thanks for comments. appreciate.

Ryan, nice contrast BW shots. god use of lighting.
Edward, nice street set, but your cup shot is wonderful, rendering and color is beautiful. Look forward to see your sonnar shots. one thing curious, you said it is optimized at f1.5, how is the focus accuracy, I seems remember Zeiss lens is designed for IKON with short flange distance, so always slightly back focused with Leica, do you have this problem?
Charles, Nice portraits, I admire your focus skill.

Some more from 50lux. I start forget its price pain and love its rendering more and more. This is the experiment in my mind, mid-distance bokeh, with its DOF transition, it can create MF look effortlessly more than any other lens on hand.

Thank you very much for the nice comments, Zhangyue. Greatly appreciated. Very nice set with the Lux, lovely rendering!

As for the Sonnar, according to my MFD ruler test, focus is most accurate at f/1.8. It is very slightly front focusing at f/1.5 but within user error, but at f/2.8 the focus shifts backwards by 2-3 cm.

As far as I understand, Zeiss currently calibrates the ZM lenses for the Leica digital bodies. A couple of months ago, they discontinued the Zeiss Ikon, so it doesn't make sense to calibrate the lenses for film. It seems that latest batches of the Sonnar are calibrated for best focus at f/1.5 due to the market requests. I personally find it makes sense to calibrate it for f/2.8 for general use, unless all what one wants to do is shoot it wide open.

Ok, here's my obligatory infinity test of the C-Sonnar. Unfortunately, at the infinity hard stop, which is accurately indicated by the RF, this lens focuses beyond infinity. I need to pull back by 1-2 mm, which I did in this shot. This wouldn't be a problem with the M 240, but with the M9, I will need to make a few tests to know how much exactly I should pull. The test shot is at f/5.6 handheld. I believe the Planar to be on a much higher level of sharpness and contrast, but the C-Sonnar has a more pleasing rendering.

Thank you Hilmar, Charles, Andrew, Edward, Joe, Michael

Andrew, very nice portraits with the 75 Lux
Charles, nice photos with the 75 Lux and the 2 b&w of the woman are great.
Allen, I like that self-portrait
Edward, nice set with the 35 Biogon and the coffe & bagel shot is great. I'm looking forward to see more with the C-Sonnar.
Michael, I like #3 and #4 in your 50 Lux set. It's a great lens isn't it.
