Photographed this young girl and her Father visiting with this turtle by the pond during my after class walk today. Both the scene and the lighting were irresistible.

Cropped to not offend more than I normally do.

Of note... IMO the Cron 50 v5 is wildly unappreciated nowadays. I shoot with it much more than my Lux 50 because the handling is perfect - focus throw and weighting is perfect, it always seems to nail focus, size is great, sharpness and boo-kay are just lovely.

Agreed that this lens - which I also own - is falling often under the radar these days. It is one of my few Leica lenses which kept the price tag constant for what I bought it for used in 2015. Great sharpness and bokeh (the latter really shines with close-focus lens attached and shorter MFD). One thing I am not a big fan of with this lens - its retractable hood is quite flimsy which is often mentioned. Possible that it can be tightened when the lens is serviced, but it is not worthwhile for me to spend money just to improve this.

The hood on mine remains in place so I think it must have loosened up on some. But at least it extends far enough so that it could make a difference! The retractable hood on my 50 Lux Asph barely extends - when I first got it I thought it must have been broken because surely that couldn't be it!

The hood on my 50mm Cron v5 is also still nice and firm. It stays in place fine when extended. I still love almost everything about this lens, and use it a lot. I do wish it had a focus tab however. Then the ergonomics of focusing would be consistent across all of my Leica lenses. Why can't Leica make up its mind on this?

Yes, the focus tabs....I wish I would at some point get used to any of them even after nearly 10 years of using Leica gear! So I don't even realize if some of my M lenses don't have it like this one. I am using some focus tabs on very slim and small focus rings where moving the ring with my fingers is too cumbersome. I never remember what it means if the tab is in one or the other position .

I’ve owned the V5 50 Summicron twice. When I had the second on, there was an article about how to attach a tab using 3M VHB tape. It’s a double sided tape designed for attaching electronics to farm equipment. It releases easily and doesn’t leave any residue. There are a few places offering third party tabs. The other trick is to use a zip tie.

Now this is more normal... So close, but to do it right the throttle, brake, clutch should have been on the horns.

I have a nice tab to use. I am going to try the VBM tape. Thanks for the tip!
